After some 8k miles on the rebuilt unit, I rechecked the vanos running pressure yesterday. Using the same gauge it's exactly at the same level at idle, so 115 bar. So that's good....

Ive just refreshed my king pins 'up' to CSL parts. I measured up the existing/fitted & 'CSL' parts and concur (getting shock here on this)...

Im a few months ahead on this. I'd recommend all get a new pressure reg or move up to the higher pressure, assuming your system has enough grunt in it to make over 100 bar....

Your position figures look typical so I'd say vanos is moving to correct range, so timing ok. A guess. If the time out is being reached, maybe she's sticking, so the low pressure or leak problem as...

Cherrs but the only exposed wire is the diode/temp sensor. The heart of the MAF is closed up.ntKe a close look.

I took out the switch and opened her up. All clean inside. I reckon it's the problem because it's aged and worn so cannot deliver full stroke to the mechanism to reliably operate the switch....
