Itís really only shady without documentation of damage that led to the total loss payout, for older vehicles with difficult to find parts it makes sense for he insurance company and owner to settle...

I have a rare vehicle that was "total loss" early this year as well, cracked front bumper and no replacement bumpers available anywhere, so they totalled it out.

Also Geico.

Have yet to see...

In Houston summer on 100+ humid days in stop/go traffic, short trips where you just park it and come back a few minutes later it will show 3/4 and my cooling pump/thermostat is OE less than 5k miles ...

Those fees are always passed on to the buyer, the seller just needs to factor that into his asking price.
