I'm pretty sure the 3rd gear issue on 981's has been fixed. Also seems most on rennlist think the new 4.0 will be a stroked 3.8 from the 991S vs. detuned GT3 engine.

Re: R&T: BMW M2 Competition pkg vs Camaro SS 1LE

I dunno. That thread had a 228i with a man's trans. No reason not to believe someone establishing a baseline for a track build. Scales for corner weights should be calibrated.

Re: M2 Competition

It's possible, but I doubt it. It's a street car on street tires, and the linear springs on track-oriented suspensions start around 400 lb/in front. Vorshlag has some progressive spring tests (no M...

Re: M2 Competition

Pretty lame if they were too cheap/lazy to make the adjustment. ~150 lbs is a notable amount of weight to add to progressive springs. The M4 progressive front spring rate starts at ~185 lb/in. If...

Re: R&T: BMW M2 Competition pkg vs Camaro SS 1LE

This is why BMW should've listened to me and went with a high output turbo 4 in the M2. We'd have a 3300 lbs car that pays homage to the 4 cyl E30 M3, and there'd be no worries about having to hold...

Re: M2 Competition

Yes, but altering the ride height at a corner throws that off (and is the key to corner balancing). To correct that you'd need to change spring height with adjustable perches or change the springs,...

Re: 2019 Audi R8 Facelift Debuts With Sportier Styling And More Powerful V10 Engines

I think as a vert in black w/ black windshield surround it does fly a little more under the radar since verts in general can look a little funky in the rear. You've owned one though along with other...

Re: 2019 Audi R8 Facelift Debuts With Sportier Styling And More Powerful V10 Engines

Eh, if a Lambro is a 10 on the attention-whoring scale, the R8 is about an 8. It looks every bit like a +$200k car on the road.

Re: M2 Competition

Altering spring rates or the amount of weight on a spring alters ride height. When it's done to just one end of the car it changes the rake and corner weights.

Re: 2019 Audi R8 Facelift Debuts With Sportier Styling And More Powerful V10 Engines

That option would probably fix the area around the exhaust, but it's that long squared-off grille that I don't like. I prefer the way the .1 had some shape to it and paint in the middle.

Re: M2 Competition

Pretty sure I read somewhere that at least one set of the rear suspension bushings were replaced with ball joints for the M2C.

Re: Rolls-Royce Cullinan (First off-road Rolls)

I think it looks pretty good in RR terms. Looks way better than the Lamborghini Aztec.

Re: M2 Competition

No question the RS3 is heavier than the M2. I was specific about the M2C.

I also want to clarify that I brought up the RS3 weight to point out what Audi was able to include (AWD, extra doors,...

Re: M2 Competition

BMW hasn't been applying much lightweight tech to the M2. I think the only lightweight parts it got were already developed for the M4, and the rest was from deleting noise insulation. It has a...

Re: High compression S54 - Questions abound

I've always wondered about the influence of aftermarket pistons on OE combustion chamber designs. Same with doing an overbore (though I know the S54 doesn't have much room for an overbore anyway). ...

FWIW, the 991.2 engines are all the same. Base, S, GTS just determines what size turbo is bolted to it. Porsche even sells a factory GTS turbo upgrade kit. The only catch is the base car is...

I don't know for certain, but here are a few guesses:

extra turbo and hardware for two air filters in separate housings - 30 lbs

dedicated water cooling circuit for intercooler (2 radiators,...
