Re: Vanos help please.

Since you have the splines out and have to set the timing again, consider replacing the sprocket bolts and the upper timing chain guide. The instructions are in Beisan rattle kit repair procedure.

Re: Tips for removing PS pump?

I think that is the PS high pressure steering hose and it is just one hose, though looks like 2. It has 2 banjo bolts, one goes to the rack and the other goes to the pump. Make sure you get some...

Re: VANOS Bolt Upgrade

Is there evidence that the "replacement" OE bolts(Torx had) can go bad? I just replaced mine with Torx head and wondering if I need to change them again at some point?

do you know if the PO used Bosch "remanufactured" starter or the new Valeo starter? I am not saying that the Bosch remanufactured are bad, but they sometimes can go bad...

Re: What else to replace during VANOS lockdown?

Depending on the mileage on your car, probably a good idea to replace the timing chain tensioner. I think FCP carries an OEM option(their website actually shows that is the "OE" replacement) for ~90...

I've used the same bolts and have not read any issues using those. However, there are couple aftermarket options. I think Turbotoy and Lang racing sells the sprocket bolts.

Re: Rod Bearing Replacements

I did mine at 127k miles. My car is a 10/02 build and the rod bearing recall was done at 24K. So with 100k on them, they were actually looking good. I used a 1/2" Snapon tech angle wrench and...

Re: What direction should i go with fixing my M3?

A quality respray will cost around 5 - 6K. What are the damages like. Can a good PDR remove them? If it were me, I would try to find a used fender/door.

Re: High mileage M3 only - 150k+ only club

~2 months ago. I am glad that I bought almost all of the parts for my 120K PM when they still honored the PM request. Saved a ton and got the lifetime warranty to cover for 240/360K.. PM's :)
