Re: Help with a converted 6MT car in LA (wiring/coding)

No I mean x60004. X60002 is the 2nd connector, x60004 is the 4th. 40-pin if I remember correctly. Every error you have is related to something plugged into that connector.

I said "immediate" for a reason. Long term climate change is the bigger issue, short term I'd be concerned about infectious disease if people continue to resist vaccines, overuse abx, etc.

You can snip the ground wire that's already there.

In fact, you can remove the entire SMG ECU - it should no longer be necessary.

Re: Instrument cluster clock knob broken

Main thing is remove the rubber portion before opening up the cluster. Leaving them on and pulling it apart will be a guaranteed break.

Re: Bixenon Headlight Control Unit Wiring/Plug Part# Help

Adaptive headlights never came on the M3 - only came on the facelift non-M coupes. Electrically I'm sure it can be made to work, but physically I don't think it'll fit in the M3 housings without...

Re: The govt vs the car guy. Which side are you on?

Would you be okay with such a limitation also requiring motorcycle emissions to be stricter? As it stands now, bikes emit several times more incomplete combustion products than cars do per mile.

Re: Best subframe repair options as of July 2018?

Yeah I know. Obioban and his brother gave me shit for it when we were working on my clutch the other day too lol. What can I say, when I bought the car the dogma was that it was exceptionally rare...

I don’t think they’re stouter. They’re just actually available.

And frankly if I still have this car in 8 years, Iíll probably be putting on so few miles on it that it will be a moot point.

Re: infamous 3rd gear grind

Failures seem quite rare even on very high mileage cars. Yeah the gearbox is not smooth, but itís like that from the factory.

HJS, which is in fact the company SuperSprint uses. Euro is probably most cost effective, especially if you source them yourself instead of the guy in the classifieds who seemingly has a pair that...

Re: infamous 3rd gear grind

BMW is rather liberal with the term remanufactured, but perhaps they actually mean it when it comes to transmissions. Regardless, I'm going to trust a BMW / Getrag rebuild over some random shop,...

Re: The govt vs the car guy. Which side are you on?

They end up hindering headlight advancement with how the laws in the US are worded. It wasn't that long ago that US cars were required to have shitty sealed beam headlamps. Now our laws are limiting...

Re: infamous 3rd gear grind

I wonder who would pay that when you can buy a new 420g from BMW for $4600 at bmw-oem-parts.com and probably other online dealers (granted there's a $1254 core charge, but still)

I have a hard time believing that unless said sniffer is incredibly generous. Even if we accept that the GT3 is one of the more thermodynamically efficient engines out there, there's still going to...

I’m definitely against cat deletes. I’m not against things like relocating cats to an area further downstream, and I’m also against the laws that make things like uncertiified intakes illegal even...

With preexisting cracks I agree. But if a new panel is being installed, I think foaming it before the metalís been stressed at all should be enough to not have future worries.

CSLs were actually available with AC; they probably would have gotten a similar piece.

Some early US base 3ers also got the manual climate control. Retrofits in either direction don't work...

I would plan to do them as soon as you can. I think I'd be tempted to park the car too. If it was just lead you can let it go for a while, but iron and copper on top of that is concerning. If you...

Is it just me or is that not painted properly? I think the paint is supposed to come up to the inner crease like this:

Re: Best subframe repair options as of July 2018?

Not fully assessed yet. At least one crack is visible with the subframe in place, so I'm expecting the damage to be pretty bad, possibly enough to necessitate replacement.

Yeah I was going to go for the weld-in version myself. I personally think epoxy is superior, but no one wants to touch it, and I can't DIY this.

I'll probably need things welded regardless at...

Re: Engine running hot

If it only went to 3/4 you should be fine. Even if it hit the red, the S54 gauge maxes out at 115ļC, which is relatively low. An E46 non-M (which has a softer aluminum block mind you) is still...
