Re: SCCA F Street - the beginning

What sway bar are you running? I wouldn't say the M3 has excessive body roll, on my konis anyways.

Maybe your springs are worn, but that would be a first for me.

Re: E46 M3 ran Motul 5w40?

It's an oil test at room temperature that shows that the Schaffer's has much better wear protection than other oils.

I believe the tests, I did it myself. It seems like the schaffers stuff has...

Just move a coil and see if your misfire follows.

Re: Lowest price and miles range for low maintenance e46?

It's going to depend on the car. I was on the fence about buying the M3. I've always been a Japanese car guy. I bought a Nissan Skyline GTR in the states, and everyone went on about how much it would...

Re: E46 M3 ran Motul 5w40?

What oil to run is seriously killing me.

I have been doing 3k oil changes, the P.O. had to replace the engine due to failed rod bearings at 94k miles.

I know a ton of people run Liquimoly, some...

Re: Should I buy this E46 with $22k accident?

I just bought my M3 as well.

2004 SMG, 98k miles.

SMG pump replaced at 75k miles.

Subframe reinforced.

Less than 6k miles on BMW installed long block S54 (Rod bearings went out... under...

Re: Help needed to change smg compression springs

I'd be doing mine myself for sure. And when I do it, transmission is coming out and a clutch and throwout bearing will get done too

Re: Poly Diff bushings slide out?

I've never been in an M3 without Poly diff bushings. I guess I'm just used to it.

Buy yeah, this M3 is the first car where I think OEM is probably best for everything.

My Skyline is a full...

Re: Poly Diff bushings slide out?

I don't see any disadvantage to the poly rears. No reason to change those, people don't have issues with those. But this front mount has been a nightmare.

Since I drilled and tapped my front diff...

Re: Poly Diff bushings slide out?

Yeah. I'm going to have to agree. OEM front diff bushing is probably the best.

But when you are shearing diff bolts.... Curious if anyone has sheared a diff bolt on an OEM bushing?? Most I've...

Re: Poly Diff bushings slide out?

I will not pretend like having a mount on only one side is a plus in any way, shape, or form.

I have not even seen what the OE bushing looking like yet.

I had the ECS poly diff bushing and it...

Re: what causes idle rpm to stumble at random

The only thing on my car that isn't new is the MAF, air filter, fuel filter.

I'll clean the MAF and change the air filter, and probably the fuel filter for shits and giggles.

Re: Poly Diff bushings slide out?

What I don't understand is what is supposed to keep the diff from pulling towards the drivers side anyways? The factory bushing is just sitting in the subframe, there isn't anything to keep the diff...

Re: what causes idle rpm to stumble at random

subbed, mine hunts. Barely noticeable on the tach, only in the exhaust note, really.

My car only has 5800 ish on a whole new long block, including the ICV. Don't think that's necessary the issue.

Writeup is moving slow, I have to replace some bolts on the axles and I forgot to take some pictures.

But what I DID do to resolve your issue, is I knocked the bushing in (towards the passenger...

Re: Poly Diff bushings slide out?

No, in fact, allegedly, you don't have to even take the diff out, but I'm having a hard time imagining that.

If you are going to drop the diff, its perfectly doable on your back with two...

Re: Poly Diff bushings slide out?

If that front diff bolt is loose, you will hear bangs.

I've heard the CSB, Guibo, diff bolts, subframe cracks, FLYWHEEL, all of that can cause the clunks.

Re: Poly Diff bushings slide out?

I'm in the middle of changing my bushing right now. Mine sheared off clean.

The way the aftermarket bushings work is a poly sleeve wrapped around a metal bushing. The bushing is then bolted to...

Re: M3 e46 Crank No Start

Okay, so you've eliminated the fuel pump and the MAF. I would lean towards the key being the issue, like these guys are saying, if you have new spark and coils.

Re: Just rebuilt the motor, need advice on oil for break in

I don't know, man. I would stick to the 10w-60 and change it in 1200 miles. BMW put a new long block in my car, and that was what they did. M-Power (Blue bottle) oil since the first mile on the new...

Re: Wheel & Tyre fitment question :)

I'm running stock M3 19" rims (19x8 et47) with 245/35/19 tires, and I rub like a mofo on slight lowering springs.

You're gonna need camber, at the very least.

I'm not being super helpful, but...
