Driving Coast to coast in an e46 M3 as we speak. I hope I make it!

Re: Longest lasting adjustable front end link for daily?

I've never tried theirs.

But, Turner uses THK ball joints-- THK supplies some of BMW's ball joints. I think it's unlikely that the Hotchkis end links are superior to Turners, though they could be...

Re: Longest lasting adjustable front end link for daily?

Yeah, another vote for the turners.

And, hopefully it goes without saying, but the other key to longevity is using the adjustability to dial out 99% of the preload.

18s on the normal e46 are also kind of like 19s on the M3. The fenders can't really fit the M3 rolling diameters. Going to 17s on the wagon lets me run an M3 on 18s level of sidewall.

Looks like an 46 wagon

Sooner or later I'm going to get around to doing the M sport bumper and side skirts (I prefer the standard rear bumper). I also want to do M3 mirrors on it.

That looks like a solid solution! I considered that, but ultimately went a different route because I wanted to be able to do headers (and put the cats in the section 1):...

Nice car! Natural brown is far and away my favorite non M interior color option.

As a fellow converted e46 owner (my DD is an M3 wagon), do all the subframes and suspension bits-- it makes as big...

Re: Designing a classy and timeless hood with functional heat reduction

I wonder if there would be any benefit in venting this area (on both sides, just can't circle it on the right side because it's below the intake elbow) to the side gills:

Re: Designing a classy and timeless hood with functional heat reduction

Saving 7kg seems crazy light-- the stock hood weights 10.4 kg, so that puts your hood at ~3.4 kg total!

Semi related question: Are hood pins going to be required to run this hood at high speed...

Re: Designing a classy and timeless hood with functional heat reduction

I'm a bit conflicted. The GTS style rad vent strikes me as the most functional way to vent the rad generated heat, but I don't think it flows with the lines of the e46M at all.

To my eye, this is...

There are tons of cheap and functional venting solutions already on the market, for those that just want function and don't care about appearance.

Re: OEM Style 135 wheels on an M

They don't fit properly, the heavy, they're weak, they don't look right on the M3, and at $150 something is very wrong with them as non M owners love them.

Keep looking.

Re: Supersprint V1 Stepped Section 1s -- installation/removal tips

I covered the inside pipe, none on the outside pipe, so that hopefully none (or only a tiny amount) of it made it into the inside of the pipes. I also put it on pretty thin, for the same reason.

The e9X M diff is pretty much the same unit, so if yours doesn't feel like that, it's not functioning properly.

Did you use the OE fluid with FM booster 30k ago?

Stoptech street pads are garbage compared to OE BMW or OE Brembo.

Street compounds are a huge weekness for the ST40 calipers, IMO.
