Even Porsche purists look down on the 996. Itís not hate, itís just really one of the worst 911 overall.

Oh and OP is talking about standard 996, not a turbo. Although, thatís ugly too

So true. Standard 996’s are being hyped up by certain people more and more, bcs they are now very affordable. These people need to justify their newly/soon to be acquired “bargain” 911.

Re: Mr. JWW CSL review

I’m not saying replacing bad motor mounts won’t make a difference. But changing 80k mile mounts can’t possibly make someone go from disliking to liking a transmission. You either like it or you...

Re: Mr. JWW CSL review

Deteriorated motor mounts lol, sure man. Someone swap that mount so the guy can go from disliking to liking smg.

What shiftable automatics have you driven to compare anyway?

His view on the steering was also surprising. Figured that’d be something he’d appreciate compared to all his modern cars.

^ yup that was my point, not even trying to knock the obviously much older smg as that has been beaten to death.

So unless replacing motor mounts on that 80k mile csl change his opinion on smg, ...

Re: Mr. JWW CSL review

80k mile motor mounts should still be good. Low enough miles where replacing them would not transform the smg driveability. This is assuming the owner hasnít already replaced them, by looking at the...

Lol no, smg just can’t compete with new tech. We just need to appreciate smg for what it is.

From what Mr JWW drove, looks like a well maintained fairly low mileage csl

Re: CSL Style Front Splitters for OEM M3 Bumper

Well your main purpose for wanting them is to cover a crack. That’s like those that plasti dip their interior trims to cover up scratches. Not really a good mindset to have when modifying imo.

A proper powder coat is more than enough when it comes to durability and protection. Dirt and such should easily wash/wipe off from just the powder coat finish.

If the calipers were factory...

Imo you now have the perfect color to have a little extra exposed cf. CSL m3 has just the right amount of exposed cf, including the roof. Would look great on your car.

Re: SoCal's CSL-Inspired Build

Damn man, this car is amazing. If I can go back, I’d go with that silver grey color. Never thought I’d want a silver sports car but they look perfect on an e46 m3 (especially with proper csl parts).

Re: Coilover question - camber plates?

I like the height adjustability of coilovers over springs. I want my ride height exactly the way I like it. Front to rear ratio, that slight wheel gap that is exactly the same front and back.

Op seems to be after durability, comfort, and aesthetic drop. V2’s last as long as factory, just as comfortable, and can be made softer/stiffer as he pleases.

Why would they be junk for someone...

That would look pretty stupid. Front will poke out more and have fatter/taller tires. You can only push the rears out but so far. Unless you’re going for that drag strip 90’s civic look

Re: TTFS CSL Tune vs 6spd swap

There’s also a...
