Re: Hood Cowl / Windshield Wiper Cover DIY - Coupe

No need for a wiper arm puller. If you have one, make it yourself easy, but if you don't, it's still easy.

The trick is to press down on the arm's hinge. Can take a few pressed, but this will...

Re: No air from blower motor

If you have a digital readout, all flaps, bar the stratified flap, are stepper motor controlled.

Good call on the filter. But it must be caked solid to have zero airflow.

Re: Would you buy a Euro E36 M3 as an enthusiast?

>80% could mean anything from 80-99% so not sure how to read that.

As 80% of 365 is 292, which is less then the 320nm the S50 makes between 2600-6200.

So if itís true, >80% should be >88%.

Re: Would you buy a Euro E36 M3 as an enthusiast?

I’d say an as late model as you can get. But many factors come into play, as everyone likes different things.

Re: M3 GT or low mile Euro 1996 M3

With the selection becoming increasingly smaller, we see an increase in LHD Japanese spec cars.

Re: M3 GT or low mile Euro 1996 M3

Same here. I hate BTG/Mexico Green.

The color is the only thing better on the GT2.

The GT2 is a BMW UK special edition.

Re: M3 GT or low mile Euro 1996 M3

GT2 is less special. It's a GT, with some goodies removed. The cool ones.

RHD only as well.

Re: M3 GT or low mile Euro 1996 M3

Haha so true.

Even for us here, finding a good (enough) E36 has become as good as impossible.

Been after a 328i Touring for years and gave up.

Re: M3 GT or low mile Euro 1996 M3

Kidneys lack that 1996 specific inner lip.

Either not original engine or no 1996.

Re: Trunk latch reinforcement

I do happen to have these p/n's:

Regular one (480nm) 51.24.1.960.862

Strong one (for GT spoiler) (610nm) 51.24.2.264.448

Keep in mind that when the trunk is closed, just before the latch...

Re: M3 GT or low mile Euro 1996 M3

Unless someone did some manual labor on their car, no 1996 car ever left the factory as a 3.0. The S50B32 was introduced in 1995, so even all MY96 cars are 3.2ís.

So you can have a (late) 95...

Re: Center Vent Temperature Knob Spinning Freely

Not underneath the steering column, but to the side of the heater core, where it connects to the hot/cold mixing flap.

Yes, sounds like the cable became unhooked.

Re: Squeaky belt/pulley/tensioner - help diagnose

Do keep in mind these are intregrated into the SRS circuitry, unlike the mechanical ones that operate on their own.

You will need to hook them up to the SRS system and recode the SRS (airbag)...

If both are EU spec, a Ď96 one will always be a 3.2. The qeustion is pfl or fl model.

Re: Trunk latch reinforcement

^^
A great solution to a problem that should not exist on the first place.

Cracks around the bolts mean the latch is taking up force from slamming down on the latch.

Has anybody even tried to...

Re: M3 GT or low mile Euro 1996 M3

I will say the EUS50ís are as reliable as any M50/M52.

If a Vanos now plays up, itís an easy fix.

Why stay stuck in 2000?

Re: M3 GT or low mile Euro 1996 M3

It is, of course.

But one should get the car he likes best, no not because one is more collectible than the other.

Unless itís purely an investment.

Carbon trim could be bought in the past.

If people still stay single vanos is more reliable, have been laying under...

Re: Trunk latch reinforcement

Nice. But the latch should not take any force. If the catch and two dampers on trunklid are adjusted correctly, all should be fine.

Doesn’t hurt of course to have the extra protection.

If you...

Re: M3 GT or low mile Euro 1996 M3

I don't find the GT that special, but that is me. Don't like the color, old 3.0 engine. Interior takes the cake.

I would that the later car. Regardless of it being a cabrio.

Is it pre 9/96?
