Feeler: '04 Laguna Seca Blue Cab, 6MT 38K miles?

New '04 E46 M3 Cab LSB in Los Angeles

Hi there. Wanted to take a minute to officially introduce myself. I recently sold my Midnight Blue 1996 Porsche 993. I wanted something a little wilder yet more practical with seating for my entire...

Once the stock boot is unhooked from the console, can the original knob and boot be pulled off together as a single unit without using the Xacto knife to separate them?

Re: Cracked arm rest - Different solution

Cool and congrats. To clarify, I was curious if the charcoal-colored painted version ever got improved. Aluminum of course sounds vastly improved.

Re: Cracked arm rest - Different solution

Yeah, it's "bumper trim paint." I think the OP picked it because of the color, and I assume because of expected flexibility / durability. Personally, I'd prefer a brush-on touch up type, so I don't...

Re: Cracked arm rest - Different solution

Did BMW ever upgrade the factory part? Otherwise, from what I understand and witnessed about the factory paint, the only place to go is up :)

Re: Cracked arm rest - Different solution

Anyone else try this? It just seems ridiculous to replace an armrest just because of a few paint chips.

BTW- what's the part number for the "upper" gray pad that goes on top of this? ("while we're...

Re: Another one nabbed by EAG

Was the mirror replacement a result of an actual warranty, or was it more of a "good will" gesture?

Re: Problems shifting into 3rd? (6MT) Buying car, urgent!

Drove the car again tonight, no shifting problems at all. Lots to take in on a test drive, so maybe I was just imagining it. Bought the car. It's in my garage.

Have a Post Purchase Inspection...

Great post...thanks! How many miles were on your '05 at the time, dmw?

I have very little faith in anyone's "125 Point Inspection," not just CarMax's. It's a built-in conflict. They can't be too...

Re: CarMax MaxCare Warranty: Worth It? Urgent, buying tomorrow (10/22)

I admit that I am trying to "make this work." I've been looking since July and I believe that it would be a long time before I see this same spec again. However, I'm always open to specific advice.

Re: Problems shifting into 3rd? (6MT) Buying car, urgent!

I'd be shocked if this car was abused. There are zero mods and it's cosmetically mint. The only wear is one 3mm square chip in the hood which was nicely touched up and some chips in the driver's arm...

Re: Problems shifting into 3rd? (6MT) Buying car, urgent!

Thanks for the fast replies. It not "grinding," it just hesitates going into gear about 1/2 the time. Double clutching seems to solve it.

It's CarMax so no up front PPI allowed, only after the...

CarMax MaxCare Warranty: Worth It? Urgent, maybe buying tomorrow (10/22)

I plan to buy an '04 M3 6MT convertible with 35K on it at a CarMax tomorrow and they pitched me the MaxCare extended warranty: 6 years or 75,000 miles for $1,579 with a $50 deductible. Doesn't sound...

Dealers don't PPI cars because they don't have to live with the results. They just move the issues along to the end user, both the good and the bad.

At the end of the day, dealers are providing a...

Maybe not so much physical work, but risk. They (and other dealers) take a gamble that someone will pay more for the same car at basically the same time as they did. They have to pay rent every month...
