Re: Backroads / 'Canyon carving' suspension

Stock Ohlins are kick ass for a weekend canyon carver.

Re: Backroads / 'Canyon carving' suspension

KWV(anything) is too crappy of handling for a canyon carver.

KW Clubsports are too harsh for reasonable street use.

Re: Brake upgrade options

Cost not considered, in a world where aftermarket brake options don't exist, they're probably a bit better on track due to the larger rotor.

But, while those two conditions are true for BMW,...

But, sample size of 1-- my stock bolts without loctite were in there for 125,000 miles without failing.

That said, I don't think we've seen any examples of stock bolts with loctite backing out so...

Re: Brake upgrade options

-You go from solid to drilled (downgrade for track use).
-You still have the rubber guides, so no improvement in pedal feel like a solidly mounted BBK caliper.
-Pad swaps are still like stock, vs...

To be fair, it was enough years ago that people didn't really know how to tune these cars yet (and running CSL engine management wasn't even a glimmer in Mirza's eye).

Re: American racing headers Results

Yeah, the intake filter results are odd. The stock intake is pretty free flowing, and the filter isn't the limiting factor of it.

Re: Brake upgrade options

PFC's rotors are awesome, and only cost twice as much the first time-- after that you can reuse the hats.

PFC's track pads are awesome, but their street pads suck-- stick with stock.

Re: Pre-facelift vs Facelift Cars

-Later euro cars got "CSL" headers, earlier ones got M3 headers...

Re: Pre-facelift vs Facelift Cars

They're not hugely different, especially comparing a 2003 to a 2003.5, but if you compare a 2001 to a 2006 they're pretty significantly different. Not so much in superficial ways, but updated parts...

Re: Pre-facelift vs Facelift Cars

You can upgrade the DSC from MK20 to MK60, but it's a PITA and I don't know of anyone that's done it.

The MK60 ABS is better, and has the option for M track mode.
