Re: Bottom of fender rust advice

I'd replace and be done. From my experience using something like a rust converter or inhibitor is like playing whack-a-mole with rust.

Re: Help, clutch slave cylinder replacement. It broke.

^ Seconded. That's gonna be your best bet. Just doing it by myself it takes about 6 hours to pull the transmission without a lift. Good luck.

Re: 500k+ Mile E36 M3

Oof, I've been seeing a lot of cam sensors with bare wires pop up lately... 20 y/o car problems.

Re: Thoughts on this 95 for sale?

That M3 has really questionable mod vomit, and the raw value just isn't there for that price. I think this guy saved all his receipts and expects that he can get 1:1 every dollar he spent back.

Re: Sputtery idle problems

No stored codes

New plugs. Extenders seem okay, no idea on age.

I think the precat O2s are original. I know the cats have been replaced but not sure the sensors have.

Used a smoke machine...

Re: Replacing the Aux Fan Increased Noise Vibration Harshness

That's fair. I was using the driveshaft as a comparison. I'd definitely try pulling the aux fan fuse and see if that immediately kills the vibration.

Re: ZHP knob vs. BMW Performance knob

I think I just found the new shift knob for my 328 beater. :parrot:

Re: Replacing the Aux Fan Increased Noise Vibration Harshness

Are you certain the aux fan is the cause of the vibrations? I seriously doubt it could cause a powerful enough vibration to shake the door panels because it just doesn't have that much mass to it....

Sputtery idle problems

When I first got the car it had some obvious vaccum leak issues, so I replaced the intake elbow boot, ICV hose, and cleaned the ICV. Throttle cable was also sticking so I replaced that. Fires right...

Re: Very random question about my newly acquired 95 M3 - Tail light crossmember

Looks original. My 328 had repairs done to the tail light areas, it's definitely much more noticeable than that.

Re: Need info on buying an E36 m3 !!

A number of these cars may have been in any severity of wrecks seeing as they're 20+ years old. Check carefully for the usual suspects... paint lines on the rubber seals, mismatched panels, wavy...

Re: Accidentally Stuck Rear Lower Control Arm

It looks like you're going to need to pull the control arm away from the rotor (like towards the diff). With it rotated like that I wouldn't try prying it off towards the ground as you'll probably...

Re: Purchased my first Lemon...er M3!

Keep in mind I did get $500 in brand new suspension with it. I seriously doubt he "made out" with much on a $2100 sale. :thumbsup2:

Re: Purchased my first Lemon...er M3!

Definitely pass. I'd be an awful used car salesman.

There's one guy around Houston and Dallas that all the e36s groups...

Re: Purchased my first Lemon...er M3!

Took it to another shop yesterday that does collision work and alignments. The owner said he had an M3 himself at one point. He looked at my M3 for 30 seconds and also said it wasn't worth fixing....

If you have any questions feel free to drop me a DM. I did this on my 320. I see you have a 310 but if you wound up needing to redo what you already did I can offer some advice.

For getting the...

Re: Insulation Underneath and Around Transmission

I'm quite positive it is fiberglass which you REALLY should not be getting in to your eyes, nose, or mouth... if you have issues with allergies that bad don't even think about messing with it without...

Re: Purchased my first Lemon...er M3!

I'm thinking long term. I probably won't even look at bringing this thing on a track for another year+ at least, I just want to daily it until then. I have all the tools I need from working on my...

Re: Purchased my first Lemon...er M3!

At this point, I already own the car. The worst I can do is be out 200 bucks checking the alignment to find out it's not worth it and still make money parting it all out. With just the engine and...

Re: Purchased my first Lemon...er M3!

I should have clarified, the cracked tower is on the driver's side, impact was on the passenger side. They could have been related, however I sort of doubt it.

Re: Purchased my first Lemon...er M3!

Good advice. I'm going to see about taking it to an alignment specialist.

That's actually a good point... two of the rims were extremely ****ed up and I'm wondering if it was run over a curb...

Purchased my first Lemon...er M3!

Just purchased my very first M3 after owning a 328i for a short time. I got this thing knowing it had quite a few problems with body damage, but I wasn't aware of the extent until I got it up on a...
