Yep, the fluid got all over those bushings so I had to replace the rear cover as well. The car drove better afterwards with less slack in the driveline. It would lurch a little slowing to a stop...

It's just like the VANOS / valve cover area up front. There's corners where the rear main seal housing gasket...

It does not, I did it this past winter. You can reach the starter from underneath to put it back in place during install. But I did remove the HVAC filter/housing, as well as some heavy plastic...

It's an oil slinger. I broke the two tabs off mine by driving the shaft seal too far.

No idea how important it is, or what it's even slinging oil on (gear? the shaft seal? bearings?). Guess...

Interesting read. Didn't know it had a solar sensor. That was always were I felt the system needed manual intervention: going from shade to direct sun.

That's what I went to from your chart in the beginning of the PDF. Started at the grade 8.8 torque spec, and seems to have sealed. I also added a bit of high temp RTV since I had problems with this...

How about the torque for the exhaust gas valve (EGR) nuts next to the headers? Reinstalling a new block off plate after over-torquing the old one and bending it.

I think a lack of grease on that throwout / guide tube interface. It was bone dry, with nothing but clutch dust.

I realized the marks on the pressure plate fingers are from the plate that holds the self adjusting mechanism in place before install :facepalm:

Still curious about the minimum clutch thickness......

If you don't find what you want, the euro spec bumper is a nice way to go. Shaves the front reflectors. I have it on mine from the previous owner.

I picked up the $300 harbor freight transmission jack, drilled a hole in the lift plate for the drain plug to sit in.

All four wheels with nice casters, horizontal pivoting handle, forward-back...
