Re: Official Dyno Thread

i dont disagree one bit, but the vast majority of people are looking at the final numbers in an absolute sense let alone area under the curve lol

I'm just pointing out mis informed posts from others not aware of the apples vs oranges they are talking about. I've seen dyno dynamics ( properly setup) vs dyno jet within the same day and on a 250...

Re: Official Dyno Thread

Euro cars are more like 250-260whp. Pretty much all European dynos are bhp estimates idk why but they do. Sometimes you see rwhp sometimes coastdown losses. Paul could show the same graph but rwhp...

Re: Official Dyno Thread

I agree the deltas are more important than the absolutes. Paul's delta is iirc 372-315= 57bhp other cars in US seem to show more than this for cams, airbox, headers, tune etc . Of course there's the...

Re: Official Dyno Thread

People seem to not realise that Paul's numbers are bhp estimate which is rwhp + 20% ( that is what S_hp means) give or take a percent or two. So it's not 370rwhp it's more like 310ish +/- rwhp....

there is no laminar flow in the trumpets except maybe at idle. laminar and turbulent do not mean what most people think and this is despite Wikipedia having been around for some time

its worth pointing out that on a blown engine the exhaust requirements are different to a NA engine.

to simplify it a fair bit the exhaust works in "two" ways:

(1) "tuned" using correct pipe...

the problem is that shorter fatter trumpets will flow more on the flow bench but not necessarily make more peak power or average power.

people who use the flow bench correctly will test at...

It's interesting the later trumpets from s65/85 have a bigger /fuller radius that wraps around a bit more. It would be interesting to see what effect that would have. You could test it on a flow...
