Congrats Andy, one more year! I agree, still love driving mine too after 20 years. I'm dd'ing an M2, but take out the e36 whenever I really want to feel connected. These are such great cars.

Go for the pilot super sports. Tons of grip, they wear well and aren't too pricey. I put them on my M3 and 135. PSS are much better than the MXX3s that the car came with!

With the M-sport, if you set it to sport or sport+, the steering gets much heavier. It feels much better than comfort mode although still a bit synthetic compared to the e36. The fat steering wheel...

I have 428GC M sport, pretty close to a 328. Yes, the e-steering isn't as good as the e36 M3, but it's not bad either....and the car is just as fast as the e36 which is quite impressive for heavy 4...

I think the e90 might be the exception to the rule of never buying the first model year. My 330 never had any FP failures. Not as fast as a 335, but it makes it to it's destination. :)

I believe the bridgestones are a 3 to 4 pounds heavier (each!) than the PS2s. However, I loved my S03s and the RE01s are apparently even better. I don't think I'd let the weight deter me.
