If you have a lift, drop the engine and trans out the bottom. That is how I did my last E36 engine change. If no lift, remove the front end sheet metal and bring the engine and trans out the front....

They exist but you have to figure out the specs. Very few have done it do the info is not very available. ECS sells the cv for one end but it costs more than a rebuilt axle.

This is one reason to turbocharge the car. The turbo manifold is simpler and even the the turbo and downpipe and wastegate piping, it should be easier to get to that bolt.

You may be able to buy rebuilt ones. I know they exist for the E36M3. You could figure out how to rebuild them yourself but you have to source the parts. I know someone who has done some E36M3...

It’s probably a rebadged Deka. Braille has been doing that for years. You do get the terminal adapters though as part of paying double or triple the Deka price.

Leave the headers alone except to plug up obd2. Spend your time and money on getting rid of the single pipe section of the midpipe.

If you are lucky you might get $1000 towards the LS swap. The S52 crank might be worth $300 to someone building an M52 into an S52.

You have to send yours in to driveshaft shop since they usually don’t have cores, which causes some downtime.

For 3 season use, a Deka ETX30L should last 2-3 years. I ran one year round including winter for about 1.5 years. Around 20 lbs.

The early Mini batteries work. Might be H5. I ran one year...

The way I read the thread, the perceived play was a red herring in the search to explain a transmission clunk; there was no abnormal play. The noise went away with the fluid change.

Always use the first tdc you find rotating through. Don’t back into tdc. Only forward. And there seems to be a range of tdc. Use a mirror to get the angle right when inspecting the timing...
