I would wire the LED in so you can monitor the learning mode activation (or not). The process is annoying but you’ll eventually get it.

I agree. The job will be quicker overall with the additional steps to remove it.

U-joints should have no play in them, but there are no easy replacements so some play is tolerable.

That’s a Snap-On unit. It’s reading through the OBD2 port. Euro cars don’t even have that. Every OBD2 outputs the same, it’s a set standard. The values are likely showing correctly.

Re: Dilemma between two cars

That car is a mess up front. 92-96 fenders and nose panel on a 97. I’m sure there’s more hidden with no engine bay pics.

Powerdyne are entry level superchargers. They require regular internal belt...

Re: Top speed?

You’re not going to go any faster with with a 6spd and I’m not sure where a stronger diff fits in all this. 6spd is heavier, and gears 1 through 5 are identical to 5spd. The 6th overdrive gear is too...

That is not correct either. 240hp is enough to take the car beyond 150mph.

Re: Top speed?

That is incorrect. Gear limitation is right around edit: ~160mph @7k rpm with a 3.23 and 310/320z 5-speed. Most speed limit removal tunes increase rpm to 7k, and many go to 7200rpm. BMW isn't going...

The stock ecu controlled speed limit is 223km/h or 138mph.

Re: steering wheel clock spring question

You can rebuild them. I need to do this on a 97 328i I just picked up but have no real before now. The wires that are missing on yours though may just mean you need to buy a new one.

That would be from a non-M. I can’t tell but that may be the entirely wrong size too off an E39 (385mm versus E36 M3 375mm). Looking back at your video your clockspring is missing the wires too... so...

That is how it works. It unlocks when installed. I'd suggest you stop turning it in one direction before you end up unwinding the entire thing. The design is a coiled up flat ribbon cable. If they...
