Re: quick little video i made.

I started to laugh at 2:10 into the video.

Yep, here's the world's fastest accelerating M3 driving around suburbia...

The other cars are pretty quick too!

Sorry I couldn't resist....

Obviously your car is telling you something. Never get off the gas! It's a M3 and is not to be driven softly! :laughhard:

Re: Need Opinions on Engine Swap

I favor the LS swap myself but I wouldn't go LS3. LS1 can be easily upgraded to the power level of the LS3 (stock) and you need all the other Camaro bits to make it work anyway.
My solution was a...

Re: E36 M3 won't start......HELP!!

Guess I'm just too old school. I'd bypass the critter and be done with it.
Now, you have to be intelligent and REMEMBER to always push clutch in or have it in neutral before starting.
Helps with...

Re: Just received Stewart pump - is this damaged/used?

Those will not effect function or sealing. The little black mark looks like a casting void (not an issue) and the scratches on the body are most likely from the manufactering process before the part...

Re: Installed rain sensing wipers on my E36 M3

And I felt exactly the same earlier tonight before I spent 10 minutes checking out the maker of this rain sensor. It appears they have addressed some of the issues you experienced.

I too don't...

Re: Installed rain sensing wipers on my E36 M3

Googled Rain Tracker and had an interesting read on their site. Well worth my while. We need more engineering firms like this in the U.S.

Thanks OP for posting this up, adding it to the build...

Re: Cost of alignment for our car.

So Dinan will do it for $200 and your other choice is more expensive. Sounds like a simple choice here.
60-100 is normal for a generic alignment but it is doubtful that the techs at a generic shop...

Re: Buying an E36 M3 at 140K mileage, wise choice?

3 in the last year would be a deal killer for me. Almost has to be a reason 3 different people would PAY to have it transferred/registered and then dump it. Walk away!

Re: Buying an E36 M3 at 140K mileage, wise choice?

Re: 1998 M3 140K miles vs 1996 328is 120K miles

I'd chose the M3
basic maintenance costs will be close between the 2 and the M3 should hold it's value better over the next few years. The M3 has a chance (small but there) of gaining in average...

Re: Symptoms of transmission detent badness

Detent liner failure caused the detents to stick open for the most part. This holds the detents back which causes sloppiness. Detents should not cause hard shifting: they will cause vague shifting.

Re: Fail Inspection

Changing the oil can drop HCs by a bunch (if really dirty).
Oil change, new plugs, new fuel (if what's in it is more than 6 months old).
All these can help.
Sounds like you just got it?

Re: Seriously? Could do with some advice.

the two "standard" plug thread sizes are 14X1.25 and 18X1.25. a helicoil can repair approximately 0.5 MM of damage. No way a coil will save that.
