Yea, correct. P1519 is vanos related- either timing itself, the solenoid, or a failing vanos. In your case, if you've done the vanos work already, start with the solenoid.

If you want to drift, wait till it snows. As long as you can figure out how to keep it from being wrapped around a telephone pole, you'll do far less damage to your car.

Replacement heart obtained - '97 auto convertible part out. 120k miles.

Engine very clean, leak down test passed with flying colors: egligible pressure loss observed at 120psi. Got an x-brace...

That is the mystery.

I've never lost oil pressure, or seen the oil light go on. No misshifts.

In the last couple years, the car has seen it's most frequent service running 15 mile highway...

Cylinder #1 - spun rod bearing. Visible play when oil pan removed; removal of cap revealed the bearing having slowly been eating itself.

Valvetrain inspected and compression test complete, no issues observed/noted, compression 150+ on all cylinders.

Oil pan is coming off today, will update with what we find.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. We inspected the valvetrain and did a compression test, everything holds up on the top end. The oil pan is coming off today, won't be surprised if we see a spun bearing....

So, we started tearing down the engine. Nothing obvious with the valve cover off, and engine turns over normally w/o coils in.

Unless something obvious is found on the second go-around today,...

Yea, agreed. Not good at all.

How frequently do exhaust side lifters fail? I've seen a lot of speculation on this, but not much follow-up/failure analysis.
