Re: E36 M3 Euro SMG washer bottle install

Neither did we. It was an accessory you could fit.

Re: E36 M3 Euro SMG washer bottle install

Well, can't be that many reason.

1. Because it's cleaner (no pun). That big fluid container does not look very attractive.

2. To have a somewhat unique option.

3. To add something "Euro".

Re: Help! How can I get into the crevice of the seat? Lost an airpod in there lol

It can go nowhere there and you should be able to fish it out. Maybe one of those telescopic magnet pickups will stick to the earpod.

Re: Reproduction engine bay labels/decals

We had a nice discussion about the 'generic' paint label that end with 615. Turns out this label was used before end of E36 production, so for some, is its factory sticker.

Ok I don’t know exactly when BMW started using this generic label.

I know the old cars had a dedicated pn per color. Did not expect this already applied to the (later) E36’s. Interesting for sure....

Re: Bosch headlight install question

Quite literally a cable tie.

There must be a point where enough light is enough. I wouldn’t like to be driving at night with the road in front of me looking like noon in July.

Re: Bosch headlight install question

I’m gonna order a set of H1 and H7 Osram night breakers for my cars. Curious how they improved on old tech.

Re: Bosch headlight install question

It can be done in-situ, but it can be tricky. Specially if you have sausage fingers.

Re: Thermostat Housing Issues

It’s either oem plastic (old) or upgrades composite. Not both.

Your ‘original’ badge isn’t original to begin with. This is the original M3 sidebadge:

Re: The Silly Little Question Thread

There’s always country specific’s.

I have various pricelists from different years/countries and it’s interesting to see what things were options or standard equipment.

Re: The Silly Little Question Thread

It does indeed.

PS it’s not M3 specific. Any E36 spec’d with remote entry or alarm got this key.
Not the early models. Iirc it coincides with the introduction of the GM4, which controls the...

For information purpose. And showing off obviously, over here in EU we did get a factory keyfob as master key. Although not standard unless spec'd. (either with or without factory alarm)

Re: Gauging interest in building custom digital gauges

Now that I'm seeing the Alpina guages. BMW does use the LCD style display in the cluster, so depending on where the gauges are located, I guess LCD can be good as well.

If only, wel they didn't,...

Re: The Silly Little Question Thread

An impact wrench can always damage threads if not used correctly.

You can use a open head ratchet so you can stick an allen wrench through.

Re: Gauging interest in building custom digital gauges

That's the main thing. There is so much info on the bus/txd/rxd available, fitting extra sensors to get the same info is futile.

Maybe I just need a very small screen, so I can display Inpa's...

Re: Gauging interest in building custom digital gauges

That will be the Alpina gauges. This came with tons of additional wiring, numerous sensors, Alpina oil filter cap and a module to control it all.

I wouldn't call it nicely intergrated, but they do...

Re: Gauging interest in building custom digital gauges

I'd likt to know where the gauge gets its data from. Don't need an extra oil temp to install somewhere. It should be read directly off the DME, although I have a feeling this may not be the case.

If your tiny and seat can’t be adjusted accordingly, the arm rest will not be for you.

For me personally, the armrest is a must-have item.

Actually he’s right. The older models use a different way of mounting the speakers and this also means holes are different, though I’d need to double check.

The location of the holes is also...
