I need to finish my car.
I took it apart and left it to focus on the house. I miss driving it very much.

Re: M3 CSL Style Front Bumper and boot lid best options?

Get an OE BMW for the bootlid. The price is good and fitment perfect.
No idea about the front bumper though.

Re: Bad Cabmer

You should get the car to a body shop to check if the strut tower has not moved.
Does the car have a strut brace ? If yes, is it bent ?
Then you should take the suspension out and see if anything...

Re: S54 built article @ Engine Labs

If you compress your air/fuel mixture too much, it will heat up too much and detonate before the spark ignites it. DME will then pull timing to protect the engine.
If you lower the engine's...

Re: Differential cover bushing

I thought that too, but looking into it prove otherwise.
I'll stick with the OE bushing for my car.
Incredibly low NVH for how solid the bushing looks. Quite amazing.

Re: And it begins...

You're thinking of the coolant temp sensor.
The thermostat is a lot more involved as it requires removal of the water pump.

Re: Differential cover bushing

The size was not spot on, and the front diff bushing was no longer aligned with the thread in the differential.
After much trial and error we finally... cross threaded that bolt !
This was with...

Re: Differential cover bushing

I want to stay OE on the driveline at least.
I already had trouble with poly bushings on the differential.

Re: main bolt torque, varying specs

Also, there is no year difference in the TIS for those bolts.
Same info for all the S54 engines.

Differential cover bushing

Quick question about the differential cover bushing.

For the E46 M3 it is not available separately from the cover itself from BMW.
It appears that the bushing has the same size as the E36 M3 diff...

Re: Obioban's 2001 Le Mans blue M5

That sounds strange.
Maybe it really is the battery... My past experience with that is that they can go bad for no good reason, even when recent.

The "K3 glue" is what is specified in the TIS.
It looks to be the right stuff as this is the description on RealOEM :

Re: Swapping SMG DME?

I believe it has the chassis nr coded in it, but I might be wrong.

Either way, I would do a full gearbox / clutch adaptation with GT1 in order to not have any issue with shifting.

Re: can you replace the timing chain during VANOS refresh?

That would be complicated without removing the timing cover, which is a lot more involved.

Also, why ? That chain is not failing on the s54
