Highly unlikely its the wire. He's just proven that the DME is not switching the wire in the first place, so the wire continuity would be entirely secondary to that.

Re: unplugged DME, now car wont start

Yes although the catalog is sometimes worst way to find electrical stuff because the diagrams are often 'generic'. In this case however it seems spot on as you can match it to WDS...

Re: Temperature Gauge Coding

here's the old thread, but as Ian says, the M3 is only 10 degrees in that 'buffer zone', so its not really in need of tweaking. you can validate this from the fact that the needle DOES move slighlty...

Re: Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGT)?

Ha ha yeah some equation must be wrong. I assume that's happening in the DME itself, and there's not some part of the EDIABAS files that do units conversion or anything like that?

As menched,...

Re: What Chip programmer to read/write to Cluster M35080 chip?

Anybody's guess.

Good tipoff that you can't 100% trust stuff is that they list those chips for all those variants (base M35080, -3, VP, V6, etc.) when in fact, those chips should not all have the...

I have no idea why you thought that was condescending.

It was merely - in a non unfriendly way at all - clarifying what you kinda poorly stated in the first post.

If you mean any even...

Re: What Chip programmer to read/write to Cluster M35080 chip?

You can transfer the chip as long as its the same basic cluster platform (I know this works on E39 cluster at least). You want the code for the M3 cluster of course so you don't want to just purely...

Re: What are these codes for?

Almost certainly the idle is due to it not having idle control.

I suspect there's a 'fallback' function in the DME where it controls idle w/ the DBW ITB's if it finds there is an ICV error, and...

Just to confirm what you've not mentioned, but maybe figured out - for your other errors - the DMTL and the brake light switch - they DO both need to be re-pinned from MS43/5 for sure.

Re: 7843255 SMG compatibility to non HP DME

The OP indeed is confusing.

You made it sound very much like you were trying to flash the 255 program into the DME, and not into the EGS (SMG) module.

I think you meant to say...

For a street car the DME/PWM is way to go for all kinds of reasons, but for a track car... less imperative. The factory coolant sensor at rad exit for any roughly post-1997 BMW (more or less, bear...

Interesting thread still. Since the car shuts down w/ the ABS disconnected, it sure seems like its CAN comms issue of some sort.
