.NET is a Microsoft run time. On XP I believe up to to version 4.0 is supported. 4.5 and later are not.

ISTA replaced DIS. D version for diagnostics and P version for programming. From what I've read they support the e46 platform but to what degree I can't answer.

GT1 was the machine and DIS is the program that ran on it I believe. Perhaps take a look at EasyDIS? I haven't gotten around to checking out DIS at this point.

The older versions are evidently 16 bit meaning it will not run on x64. You will need a 32 bit OS (VM should work fine).

I'm much more comfortable underneath my quickjacks than I was ever was under jack stands. It is very, very stable when lifted. No issues. There are locking cams that hits a bar in case of failure.
