Re: re-dye, re-upholster or leave them alone?

Took me some while as Simple Green is not readily sold anywhere, but I found a German supplier and just put in an order for a starter kit and refills.

Can't wait to give it a go.

Do wonder...

Re: re-dye, re-upholster or leave them alone?

This was more an experiment to see its effect.

Is our leather painted or dyed?

It was/is an accessory. Either center console or glovebox (flimsy).

Ps Aceton is probably too aggressive, but just wanted to see what it would do.

Re: re-dye, re-upholster or leave them alone?

Today, just for fun I tried Alcohol Kentonatus 70% and even a little aceton on a wheel that I couldn’t be bothered with if things went bad.

Can say “wow”, but just see this:

Re: re-dye, re-upholster or leave them alone?

Any thoughts on rubbing alcohol / isopropyl alcohol? I see this often mentioned in detailing forums.

Re: re-dye, re-upholster or leave them alone?

That’s great result on those E46 seats. As good as new.

APC? Any specific brand? There are so many out there. I have some McGuiers APC here, but I find it leaves staines too much, even after...

Re: re-dye, re-upholster or leave them alone?

We have the ‘famous’ Stipt Polish Point detailing shop(you can check YT) and they restore cars back to factory new.

I’ve seen worn shiney seats come back almost factory untouched. They don’t...

Re: Center Console Top Section Removal

I luxed my 328i with the pieces from my M3 (which I ‘LTW’d’ to stay in US lingo).

Not that this stock wood is the nicest, but it sure beats the base plastic trim. Imho.

I like the contrast...

Re: 3-Spoke (Round steering wheel swap) help

It was mentioned several times you can't take out the collar.

Look at you gap now and before. Now it's good. And you used the collar, so something you did must be different.

These two...

Re: 3-Spoke (Round steering wheel swap) help

Less gap, still too much.

You should have no splines ‘left’ inside the steering wheel.

Re: 3-Spoke (Round steering wheel swap) help

Tilt or no tilt doesn't matter for the distance between the trim pieces and steering wheel.

I'll make a pic of mine. There is a small gap, about 2-3mm, but not as large as yours.

There’s something funny about that slipring.

Unless it’s the picture.

Has the cover come off a little? One sude has the ribbon spooled inside, other side is its cover.

2. Extended leather parts
3. OEM Carbon fiber console trim
4. Multifunction steering wheel setup
5. Harman/Kardon sound system

Re: 3-Spoke (Round steering wheel swap) help

If you removed the spacer (which you need) and still had that much of a gap, something is obviously wrong.

Take some pics of the column with the wheel removed and of the back of the wheel.

Re: Center Console Top Section Removal

You don't need to remove the section under the wood trim, but it's easier if you do.

You will need to remove the handbrake console, as this blocks access to 2 screws at the front.

There are 8...

Re: Vader seat lateral movement

From MY95 you get the much better frames, specially the backrest part. The old ones are crap the way the backrest was designed. There’s hardly any frame to begin with.

Re: Stock Spoiler on new M3?

BMW did have options for a cabrio spoiler, but never was one fitted from the factory.

Individual requests, if existing, excluded.

But there should be a BMW p/n printed on it if it's genuine BMW.
