Re: Is a 100,000 mile plus car a bad idea?

This kind of flame fest doesn't seem like the m3f.net I used to know. OP was being ridiculous with his asking price, and he has acknowledged as much. Now people are just joining in the gang bang.

EDIT: it actually looks quite a bit better on Imola. The OP doesn't look good at all.

Neither one is ideal for DD. But between the two, the M3 is a helluva lot closer.

I bet the e46 is safer, too. The M is certainly less likely to be involved in a rollover accident.

Milan isn't really very nice. Go north into the lake region and it's glorious, however. I think you should focus on the alps. Cept suisse....they aren't very car friendly.

Re: With VANOS unit removed can I hand turn engine w/o messing up rest of DIY?

Yes. You can move the crank endlessly as long as the hub bolts are in place. Once you're done with the procedure, you'll know why we are telling you this. The hub bolts are what keeps the cams...

Re: With VANOS unit removed can I hand turn engine w/o messing up rest of DIY?

The cams should move with the pistons unless the hub bolts are removed and the cam sprockets spin freely. Isn't that so?

Wow that sucks. sorry.

Im pretty sure that until and unless your hub bolts are loosened, you can turn the crank without affecting timing.

PSS is not for the track. At the track, you become painfully aware that it's still just a street tire. A really good one, but a street tire nonetheless.

Re: Please stop buying

By that reasoning, anyone who doesn't drive a beige camry needs to consider selling their car because only a beige camry makes sense if you're not driving aggressively.
