Re: Water Wetter vs Purple Ice

Distilled water is also unbuffered, so as soon as it comes into contact with the atmosphere and some CO2 dissolves in it, that pH drops considerably.

Coolant is buffered, so a decent bit of acid...

Re: Driveline/shaft vibration

I’m not sure about that. Bmw does sell a stiffer version that was used on some Z3s and is more recently used in cars like the F8x. If it truly did nothing, why make a stiff version?

Shouldn't have to do any programming really, let alone a "fair bit". Wiring yes. And hydraulic work as well.

Yeah the rear is pretty much identical in shape to the stock, just 1mm thicker. Also happens to be used by the Z4M.

CSL sway bar isn't uniform thickness though, so I don't know if your calculations will be accurate, or if we can even assume the ID is a consistent diameter since the OD isn't.

The inability to get heat through the center vents on the E28 was enough to ruin that for me. Undrivable in winter, even as someone who generally likes to keep it pretty cold in the car.

In fairness, the braking probably just comes down to the F30 having crap stock tires or the Suburban having great stock tires. If there's one thing modern BMWs do better than older ones, it's braking.

Re: no power at pin 23, crank no start, no power to DME

I do suspect the problem lies with the DME. Most people don't replicate on the bench what happens in a real car. I would say just because it powered and was diagnosable on the bench does not mean...

Re: no power at pin 23, crank no start, no power to DME

Going back to this post, I think I had initially misread it.

Get your multimeter, connect one end to Pin 23, and the other end to a known ground. Leave pin 23 floating otherwise (rather than...

Re: intermittent starting issues, persists after new key and EWS ring

Before changing the starter, try cleaning the starter contacts. Also check your positive terminal - if that's corroded, clean that up.

Re: Tried to setup bench setup for Flashing LCM module and failed

Again, 99-01 cars don't have a VO period. They have a ZCS, which the LCM does not store. A brand new LCM in those cars will never have a VO written.

Also note that the VO/ZCS do not directly...

Re: Tried to setup bench setup for Flashing LCM module and failed

99-01 cars use a ZCS, not a VO, and LCM does not store a ZCS on e46s. Having a blank VO is intended behavior in that situation.

Re: Tried to setup bench setup for Flashing LCM module and failed

For Ncs you can just add “mode=kbus” to obd.ini

For PASoft you’ll need to throw an instrument cluster in the middle.

Re: Will a non m electric fan physically fit?

I’m not sure why you’d need a separate module. If I really wanted to run both, I’d run a new power/ground wire (and probably tap into the unused 50A fuse slot in the fuse box), and then duplicate the...

Non-M manual. Automatics got a mechanical fan + electric pusher fan like our cars came with.

Re: I need a bit of help/advice on passing NYS Emissions

I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the sensors themselves. Usually the O2 heater monitor sets pretty quickly as long as they're there regardless of how you do the drive cycle.

I might have to do this. BTW on the driver side, I think you can trim the non-M expansion tank bracket or Z4M bracket to fit instead of using a zip tie.

No I mean x60004. X60002 is the 2nd connector, x60004 is the 4th. 40-pin if I remember correctly. Every error you have is related to something plugged into that connector.

Re: Help with a converted 6MT car in LA (wiring/coding)

You can snip the ground wire that's already there.

In fact, you can remove the entire SMG ECU - it should no longer be necessary.
