Yes, you will need .18 and .23 feeler gauges for intake side. You will need .28 -.33 for exhaust side. Get the correct gauges before you begin. The angle ones are the best ones to use.

Beisan seal refresh about 3-4 hours on the high side.

use a heat gun or blow dryer to get the top hot so the sticky stuff loosens up a bit then use a exactl knife to pry emblem off.

or use painters tape to tape off emblem and paint knob.

they are charging you too much for labor. At most it's a 4 hour job, even at ~$100/hr it's too much.
Ask them for a break down of parts and labor cost.

go to a new shop, go buy a new exhaust hub or get Turbo's hub for around $700.
If the holes are damaged on pump disk, have it redrilled for around $200. The vanos pump rarely goes bad.

Yes, the battery can show 12v but not have enough current left to start the car.
It did have enough to power up the lights then when you tried to crank it, it completely drained it.

just because your cluster lights up don't mean it has enough juice to start the car.

when you tried to start the car it prolly drained it to the point where it will not keep the lights on.

If I recall, the back carpet piece you need to unlatch the rubber tube piece at the edge of the metal. Behind the carpet piece is the metal piece which the foam and leather sits...

It should just be a 12v line that it senses when the brake is pressed, you should see the switch up by the brake pedal.

there's your problem right there; you just got back from vacation which means the car battery have been drained from not being turned on then you go update the flash without a trickle charger.
