100 Degree Day - Car overheards 3/4 mark with AC on.

ANyone experience this problem? If its over 100degrees and I have my AC running, the car overheats to the 3/4 mark. Once I turn off the AC, it slowly goes back down to the 50% mark. All other days the temperatures are good.

My guess would be the Clutch Fan going bad?

Your guess is probably correct

you also have an aux fan - so want to make sure that aux fan is working (electric on front).

what is the condition of your water pump, clutch fan, coolant.

it will hit 3/4 on 100* days running JUST the aux fan...

How old is your radiator?

3/4 Mark is not neccessarily over heating. Mine went right up to the red Mark on along steep grade in 100+ temps.
Does it happen all the time?
Also, lots of people run no fan without issue so I personally would look elsewhere for an issue first. Radiator not blocked, proper (and fresh) coolant mixture,

This,

I see the same behavior on REALLLY hot days, I chalk it up to an inefficient rad after all these years of use. Parts just need maintained, that's all. BMW says anywhere between the two dots its okay as well. On really cold nights, the needle drops to the first dot.

Mine started doing the same thing, while driving in 100-120 degree temps. refreshed my cooling system and the needle has not exceeded the half way mark. even with AC on max.

What specifically did you replace during your system refresh, everything?

They have kits, or you can buy it piece by piece. Personally, I replaced the water pump, fan, fan clutch, hoses, thermostat, temp sensor and a few other odds and ends when my car hit just over 100k miles. I haven't replaced the radiator yet, but it's something else for you to consider. I live in a hot environment and my car rarely goes past the middle mark unless I'm in really heavy traffic, in which it goes just barely past that mark.
