New Emissions Recall - COMBINED THREAD - DO NOT START A NEW ONE!

Hey guys, so interestingly enough last night my Service Engine Soon light appeared for no apparent reason. As I was about to leave my house this morning to go get the codes read from my mechanic, I received a letter from BMW stating that there is a BMW voluntary emissions recall campaign to reprogram the DME control module. It says that 2002 to 2003 M3's has a software error, such that the DME programming, as originally installed, may cause the on board diagnostic to erroneously evaluate the emissions performance of the catalytic converter, cause the Service Engine Soon lame to illuminate prematurely.
Just wanted to inform you guys of this recall and hopefully this ends up solving my issue.

BMW voluntary emissions campaign to reprogram the DME

I just got it in the mail just now and it says 02 03 Ms have a software error. BMW will repair you car free of charge and labor. Also it states that BMW will extend the emissions warranty to 10 years/ unlimited miles. This is great for a car thats been out of warranty for so long. What if we have aftermarket cats and software, should this still apply?

BMW will extend the emissions warranty to 10 years/ unlimited miles??? does this mean they have to replace cats that are failing and/or o2 sensors?
