Does Your E46 BMW Consume Oil?

Does any of this apply to the S54 engine?

I believe not. S54 seems to use the M52 style ring.

I've never had to add oil between changes. It stays at the top of the mark for 5000+ miles.

Same here. It stays at the same level from last oil change...not a drop required to top it off.

As with everyone else posting, I have not had to add any oil between changes. I try to check it regularly and the levels are consistently the same. OP, are you finding that your car is consuming oil?

No oil consumption here, either... on my S54s.

S62 on the other hand... is a two stroke

2-3 liters between oil changes. ~4K miles/yr. Not a single drop consumed on track; always happens during normal street driving. Compression/leakdown test is way overdue.

Happy to say, not a drop burned.
