OEM Rotors or CSL?
 
Trying to decide which rotors I should choose and thought you guys know best. Keep in mind price is no issue because of FCP warranty. Also keep in mind that these are my ONLY 2 choices. My car is a daily driver that sees between 5-10 track days a year.

OEM Rotor (Blank)
Pros:
-Not prone to cracking
-Lower Heat Cycling Spikes because of increased Mass

Cons:
-No BBK upgrade
-No Where for pad buildup to go?

CSL Rotor
Pros:
-996 BBK upgrade available
-Holes for Pad buildup to escape?
-Looks freakin awesome
-More "edges" leading to better braking?

Cons:
-more prone to cracking

As of now Im more leaning to the CSL rotor because im thinking of a future 996 BBK. Somebody help me make the right choice. Thank you!

I would get euro 325mm. For weight savings and slight bling. If no plans on 996 brembo conversion.

Question. Why those instead of CSL?

Correct me if im wrong but euro rotors are US size but drilled?

2. BBK gains you nothing.

Iím going with the stock 325 rotors and will upgrade to the euro 325. With the db9 vagbratechnic kit you have both 325 and 345 options

What do you mean BBK gains nothing? Much harder to overheat those brakes when they're bigger!

Drilled rotors heat stress much easier from track use. If you are beating on rotors as hard as you suggest from your comment - then you are clearly increasing your chance of a rotor crack ending your HPDE weekend.

If you need better rotors due to extreme use (I assume you are running sessions substantially longer than the typical 25-30 minute sessions) - go with PFC Direct Drives.

Standard brake cooling practice at the track will avoid imprinting.

If you’re going the FCP Euro route there are no real cons to the CSL rotors. I have a similar plan to run the CSL rotors, then possibly upgrade to the 996 brakes.

The two benefits you didn’t mention are that the floating rotors have better heat dissipation, and the rears will reduce unsprung weight 2 lbs per corner. Some say the floating rotors also reduce pad and bearing wear.

my track sessions don't usually go on longer than 30 minutes but yes sometimes they do

Do you think that a 30 minute session will be too hard on a CSL rotor?
