I did buy the extended maintenance so I have free service till 100K (it's a no brainer cuz you save 1000s).

I didn't buy the extended warranty because it's like 3K and my engine is alreayd covered to 100K. SO no need.

Yes, i'm going to the meet on Sunday 22nd.

Yeah, $2200 for a water pump and radiator... that was a lovely day. All happened while sitting in traffic... Water pump broke in half and tore everything up, part of it lodged in the water pump housing. I reallllly tried to convince them that it was in internal problem since mine engine was covered up to 100K. No dice. Oh yeah the ODO reading... 50436. That was my 01 M3, I wised up with the new one. GL

Do you know that Towson BMW is mod friendly? Thinking of installing aftermarket headers soon and don't wanna touch my 100k engine warranty on my 02. Thanks!

Does extended maintenance warranty covers inspection II? Also, where did you get that $960?? Does it have a valve adjustement? Both Fairfax and Sterling BMW quoted me over $1000. I forgot the exact amount but it's over $1000.

Yup, extended maintenance covers all service/brakes/clutch/wear and tear items up to 100K. But I didnt' get the extended car warranty, so if anything breaks, I have to pay for that from now on.

Inspection II for $960 is a steal!!! It's normally $1000-2000.

I'm not worried about Inspection II because I've already had it done on my car!! :rofl2: '

It's cuz my car has been requesting service about every 12K...
12K oil service
24K inspection I
36K oil service
48K inspection II

I shocked them with how early my car required Inspection II!! ahah

I got it from sterling. And I prolly trashed the paper work. They toped off my windshield washer fluid though!!!

so it really seems like the extended warranty is not worth it all the time

The extended maintenance warranty is definitely worth it because you'll be saving $1000-2000.

The extended car warranty is like $3K+. That's a lot to pay.. and what if nothing goes wrong from 50K-100K miles? The main reason for having this warranty is to cover any engine problems (which will be a lot)... But 01-03 M3 engines got free 100K warranty on them already.

what goes on at Inspection II. is it something I can have the mechanics at my shop do? I run out of warranty in March, my car has 34k on it and the 100k engine warranty. Suggestions?

thanks Peter, that stuff loos pretty basic, no way should that cost anywhere near that much, I'm going to have my mechanics do it. It says the sparkplugs are good for 100K but it also says to change them at Inspection II, which one is it?

Valves adjustment probablly is the hardest part for Inspection II because opening up the S54 is no joke! Can BMW void the engine warranty for doing Inspection II by yourself or non-BMW service department? Anyone know?

That's a good question :nixweiss:

I guess don't do anything on the engine yourself until after 100K miles

Last time when I asked couple of SAs about installing the aftermarket headers, they said my 100K warranty will be gone if I ever move the engine. And, Brad from Evosport told me the same thing. BMW NA will void your warrenty if you ever let lose the engine from its mount. But, I don't know about spreading apart the engine without moving. :rofl2: My common sense is saying YES!!!

No, still have it.. unwarranted. but i'm driving my 06 now. just waiting to find a new home for the 01. The maint plan, according to the dealer was like $4000. After the $2200 i couldn't do it so i ordered a new one. :)

Just to clear things up

The extended MAINTENANCE plan (for service) should only be $1299-1799 (depending on where you go) and can only be bought if your car is still within your original maintenance warranty (has not expired yet).

The extended vehicle WARRANTY (for anything that breaks) should be ~$4K.

Both only extend to 100K miles.

My car just ran out of warranty (both maintenance & extended warranty). I've been searching the forum for aftermarket warranty companies. The top 2that were mentioned on here were Warranty for wheels and Warranty America.

Anybody in the NoVA area have an aftermarket warranty on their M3? If so, which company, how much, experiences, etc.? Thanks guys. I now have 33,000 on the clock and getting a little worried about things potentially failing.

all 3rd party ones out there are a gamble and a hassle
give it some more thought before you decide to purchase them

When mine ran out I got an extended warranty from a company called Mercury, they're one of the biggest online. I've had a couple thousand dollars worth of repairs, including a trans, which they covered without question. In respect to the trans, they asked if a refurbished one was available first, but when none were available, they paid for a new factory one. $100.00 deductable. The also paid for more minor issues. Mine is an 02 with 50k miles. It cost me 3k/ for four years/40k miles, which ever comes first. That's for the most comprehensive package they offer.

Were you under factory BMW warranty when you bought the warranty from Mercury?
I got a 03.5 with 32,500 and I don't have any warranty. I'm getting a little scared of something breaking on me. I spoke to BMW dealer in area and they said that I have to be under factory warranty to get 3rd party warranty from them. Can I get warranty from Mercury (or someone else) if my factory warranty is out?

Thanks......
