Hey guys,

Just curious, what do you all think is the most common color for the M3? I'm guessing either jet black, carbon black or titanium silver? What about interior?
My 05 M3 is jet black/black which seems pretty common (but I love it nonetheless, although maybe I would have gotten carbon black). Thanks

Obviously, Phoenix Yellow. They're a dime a dozen.

Not really. Silver, it is.

It's gotta be TiAg, Carbon Black, Jet Black, Alpine White, Steel Grey. I see TONS of these colors. I've only seen one or two LSB and PY. Never seen another Interlagos or Boston Green. I think boston green would be really awesome. Especially with a Cinnamon interior

Boston Green was on the E36...

Oxford Green II E46...

I've seen Oxford on Cinnamon and it is very nice in person. Photographs well also.
It looks really classy.

Silver, on most cars. When I was looking for an s2000, I swear 40 out of 50 cars were silver.

Definitely Silver w/black interior is most common. Then I would go with Jet black and then Silver grey. I'm looking for AW with any color interior (w/smg) and I can't find any decent ones :nixweiss: They're all silver or black.

Mmmm... that picture of Oxford over cinnamon is great. Turbo-S also has that combo.

As far as it "looking like christmas" cinnamon isn't red. That's Imola leather. And for the record, I think Oxford with Imola leather might actually be kinda fun. The same kinda fun you'd have running a LSB leather interior with a Phoenix Yellow car :rofl2:

I may see one M3 per month in Louisville. Is Mystic Blue uncommon?

I saw a 2005 MB for sale on eBay today. Must not be too uncommon.

Mystic was/is one of the standard issue colors. It replaced Topaz (which I REALLY hated). Mystic is nice, but not my cup of tea.

You guys, there was a poll here a few months back that showed that carbon black was the most common color, followed very closely by silver.

I'll post the thread if I find it.

That might be the most common color of the memebers on the forum who actually voted only about 500 or so. I think he was asking overall most common color of M3's based on sales; from BMW I heard that the most sold color is TiAg.

You cannot actually think a poll of 510 people is an acurate representation of 30,000 some odd M3s that have been sold in this country.

Yeah, but polls of 1000 people are frequently used to represent 100-200 million U.S. voters, and those things are pretty accurate.

But who cares? Okay, so silver is the most common color says you. :nixweiss:

Yes, but you cannot think that forum members such as us represent the average M3 driver. I would bet that the average M3 driver is slightly older than the average age of the membership of this forum and there for I do not think we represent a good cross section of M3 owners.

I had actual numbers from BMW before, but since the hard drive of my computer got fried a couple of weeks ago, I have lost all of that information. That is how I can say so confidently that TiAg is the most common color on the M3, followed by AW, then CB (IIRC).

I'm taking a class in research methods right now. There are so many problems with using the survey on this forum as a representative sample I could go on all day.

However having worked at a BMW dealer and seeing what came through on a daily basis (and let me tell you this is a much more reliable method) there is NO QUESTION in my mind the most common E46 color is TIAg (silver).

For some reason a silver BMW doesnt sit very well with me. Added to the fact its so common, it's probably my least favourite along with PY. Sapphire Black is a personal fav along with LSB which jsut keeps on growing on me.

See my previous post, there are so many reasons why that poll is invalid and can't be taken as fact I could write a book on it.
