Ok, whenever I engage or disengage the gear in reverse, 1st, 2nd or 3rd, the engine makes a strange cracking noise as if something was loose? I have the manual M3 cabio..... Is ths normal....

where is the noise coming from??? it isnt the notorious clunking from the rear/tranny?

if its coming from the engine...what do you mean cracking? valve clatter?

No... I am not sure how to describe it... it is worst when reversing. When I reverse and then press down the clutch, it seems like something connected to the gears clicks, it sort of sounds like the gear teeth clanking when they engage....

Any ideas???

Yes, both SocalM3 (my friend, also from this forum) and I both have this problem as well. Just another ///M sound.

Man! There are a lot of noises being reported on the new M3... Any cause known? Can it be fixed?
