Never fear, your autoX information source is here!

The good news: Racing on Saturday and Sunday this weekend!! Saturday is the regular Saturday series. This is nice, laid back event. Sunday is the regular points series. A bit more serious, but still fun.

The bad news: Not the greatest site ever. Golden Spike Arena in Ogden. Small, very small. If you're looking to stretch your gears like at Wendover, forget it!

Meh.

I'll pass. My gears only work good, when they are stretched. :D

Registration for Sunday is here: http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEventDetail.Show?psevent_id=4129&psrnd=.03779743412696088302840194284668877862

Registration for Saturday is on-site.

Tight course, which means that any overdriving kills you mercilessly and you can't save your butt with the loud pedal. Watch the lightweight cars dancing through the course. That should be a nice challenge to work on being smooth.

Ogden is too far away for such a small site. I am going to pass on the Ogden events.

I went up there yesterday and it was a surprisingly fast course for such a small parking lot. I was hitting the limiter in 2nd (61mph) at the end of the long slalom. My best time was a 42.36 and I had lots 'o fun!

Well, that's a little science in itself and I'm still taking baby-steps getting it right. Here is some material for starters: Course Design (http://www.houscca.com/solo2/coursedesign.zip)

I feel that the most important thing is to leave the pride at home, listen to good suggestions from experienced club members, keep the idea but be flexible in the implementation, and get ready that you will hear plenty of complaints about how much the course sucks. :chair:

Funny enough, in most cases there is a correlation between the people that are doing badly in the competition and people that don't like the course...

Yes, the course always changes. 'Discovering' the course and getting it right quickly is part of the sport.

This was a 6x seconds course (fastest non-cart time 60.x slowest 69.x), no first timers on Sunday.

Geoff did well and I believe for the first time ever I was able to beat Todd in raw time. :rockband:

Well, he brought his mostly stock E46/M3 on street tires and whooped me big time in PAX (car class corrected timing). :smash: :haha:

Well done Uli!

Did anyone film? I'm interested to see the course.

How slippery was it?

The site has an extremly grippy surface. On the other hand if you combine that with a tight course it can get hard on tires, especially if you overdrive the course. I guess you can't have it both way, can you?

I don't know if Geoff checks in over here, but I want to offer my thanks for the opportunity to drive his car a few runs!

Thanks to Uli for the work he put into designing and setting up the course! Very difficult site to get a course that satifies even half of the competitors.
