It seems that most dealers that are taking deposits are going for $1000.00

It doesn't really "cost" you anything (though some will cite the opportunity cost of the money you tie up in the deposit for the time you wait).

At this point in time it hasn’t cost me a dime. I gave my dealer a $1000.00 check on June 25th to be number two on their list, but they still haven’t cashed the check???? As far as I’m concerned, it isn’t a big deal if they do, but I’m pleasantly surprised.

It ranges from $500-$2000, some dealers cash the checks some just hold them... there is really no set formula

I respect your decision, but in doing such, you may have to wait an extra year before you will be able to order your car due to the high demand. All said and done, that may not be a bad thing.

Of course it does. Otherwise, it would be a payment for the spot, and not a deposit.

I doubt there will be a huge wait for the car. They will probably initially produce a pretty good amount and you can always find one somewhere if you really want one. I think wait lists are pointless, but thats just my opinion.

Also, first year models will always have the most flaws.

yeah i defenitely have my jitters concerning first year cars... many kinks and minor flaws may hit.. and who knows what new features they add for the second year
