Can post a pic if it helps

Michelangelo Sun, Jun-26-2005, 07:02:06 PM For the old-style BBS, that is, the rims have big hex nuts at the center and you need a special wrench to twist in order to take the center cap off, those Bimmer badges are glued on the hex nut. You need to take some work in order to take them off. However, for newer BBS, you just strick the badges from the back of the rims. (By the way, are you gonna get the genuine carbon fiber BBS badges to replace the Bimmer ones?)
Evolution Sun, Jun-26-2005, 09:33:48 PM Hey Michelangelo, Yeah man thats what I was thinking about the cf badges, as my new wheel centres are painted black (caps too) but the actual badges are getting old, have dings, and are faded. So wanted to remove them and get somthing new on them, Ive seen ones on ebay that stick over the original ones, but I wanted to know if the ones i got come of easy enough so i could replace them with ones that pop in, instead of some cheap sticky ones if you know what I mean. But like you said I think I need that wrench to twist them off.
If I can do that, Will the new ones just pop in do ya know?
Cheers
Michelangelo Thu, Jun-30-2005, 02:41:04 AM I bet you're talking about your 7.5x16 stock BBS rims on your Sport Evolution, right? If so, then it may cost you some times to take all 4 badges off since they were glued on the center cap, not just clipped on the center as those mordern BBS.
First, you need to spend US$5.00 (that's the price I got my wrench, brand new, in California. Or if you wanna save several bucks, get a thick towel, put it over the hex nut, and then use your hands) to buy a wrench; second, twist the center hex nut and take the center cap off the rim; third, turn the center cap over, and you should see some glue that glues the badge and the hex nut together; fourth, try whatever mean (evevn with solvant, but be careful the paint) to strike the badge from the back through the hold.
If you wanna get rid of such procedures, then you can take a look of the whole center cap assembly. You should be able to part the big hex nut from the center cap basa by squeezing several clips from behind. So, now you can try to order 4 new hex nuts instead of the whole center caps.
By the way, I think it is very hard to get the genuine carbon fiber BBS badges nowadays. Yup, you can still get the one for modern BBS rims, that is, the one with several clip legs behind and you just pop them on the rims. However, for the stock rims of your Sport Evolution, the back of the badges are flat (that's why they need to be glued on).
Evolution Fri, Jul-01-2005, 09:17:11 PM No these are my new second set of wheels I just got.
They are the 17x8 and 17x9 BBS RC's that came on the E39(sports package) *I think*. Do you know about the ones i'm talking about?, I can post a pic no problem
Thanks
Michelangelo Sat, Jul-02-2005, 02:33:52 AM Are they the ones shown in your Yahoo album?

Michelangelo Wed, Jul-06-2005, 01:04:10 AM Humm... from your 3rd pic I don't see any glue around the center, probably due to the angle of the shot. However, I still believe that the Bimmer badge is (most likely) glued on the center cap. You'd better have closer check first.
