View Full Version : M3 Stolen but you wouldn't believe this!
bidinot Sat, Feb-26-2005, 01:48:56 PM Hello all,
I went to bed last night around 10pm and was awaken by The Boomerang Tracking service at 11:45pm.They proceeded in asking me if my car was with me? Puzzled at first, I rolled out of bed and went to check the driveway. My card was GONE! Boomerang proceeded in contacting the police to track down the car. Boomerang was tracking my M3's every move. About an hour later the police located the car in a corner of a dark parking lot about 15 miles from my house. As the police got closer to the car they noticed 2 people in the car. When they come up to the car they find a guy and his girl in the back seat getting down.........! So they cuffed them and took them in. The kid was only 18 yrs old. My question is......what idiot would steal a car just to pick up his girlfriend and get some??????
Sirius///M3 Sat, Feb-26-2005, 01:50:31 PM wtf is Boomerang.
BTW- go to all the guys court appearances so they really stick it to this as%hole
Thrill Sat, Feb-26-2005, 01:52:33 PM Stupid ****. Hope your car is OK. How did he get it started?
bidinot Sat, Feb-26-2005, 01:53:00 PM Boomerang is a tracking device in Canada that is installed in cars. When the car is moved without the keys the tracking center is notified that the car is being moved without the keys. They are able to track the vehicle as it moves.
bidinot Sat, Feb-26-2005, 01:54:48 PM going to the stealer today to see how he did it

was there any physical damage?
was your car serviced at that dealer?
how is the 'boomerang' disarmed, automatically when you start the car with the right key?

hehehe but your own then
mickstobes Sat, Feb-26-2005, 03:31:35 PM Great to hear you got your car back. However, the fact that he was able to bypass the BMW anti-theft sytem is very troubling. I mean BMW touts the fact that the car cannot be stolen other than with a key for the vehicle or a flatbed truck. He obviously didn't have either. If he had a vehicle key, your boomerang system would not have acitvated as it would have thought it was a legitimate engine start.
If this punk has some inside info from BMW where he works as to how to start cars without keys, I would contact an attorney as you may have legitimate grounds for a lawsuit.
Please keep us posted on this. Very curious as to how it was started!
bidinot Sat, Feb-26-2005, 03:55:04 PM Being a lawyer Im already working on it.......
InSaNe///M3 Sat, Feb-26-2005, 04:09:50 PM Must agree with mickstobes, it is hard to see how he got by our anti-theft system. My dealer also told me that there's no way you can get in without a key. If he did have a key then you "boomerang" service shouldn't have been triggered.

Riuster, no offense, but... how the HELL do you think he knew his car was being stolen? You even QUOTED him saying he was "AWAKENED" by the Boomerang service! Gawd! :banghead:
ast Sun, Feb-27-2005, 05:25:08 AM so HOW did the car got stolen? :banghead:
msl Mon, Feb-28-2005, 03:03:32 AM ... If he did have a key then you "boomerang" service shouldn't have been triggered.
The Boomerang system communicates with a dongle that you carry along with your car keys. If the dongle is not present when the car is driven, the Boomerang service is triggered.
riuster Mon, Feb-28-2005, 03:07:09 AM that makes no sense!
seriously..how can a kid with his chick steal this car? HOW?..It wasnt towed, It was driven off the lot...the car will not start without the key.....
so I only assume he left his valet key in the car...... :banghead:
riuster Mon, Feb-28-2005, 03:10:46 AM Riuster, no offense, but... how the HELL do you think he knew his car was being stolen? You even QUOTED him saying he was "AWAKENED" by the Boomerang service! Gawd! :banghead:
relax....I cant believe his story....I cant believe the car got wired by some kid with his chick...its hard to believe...with the key code in the key, the car will not start without the key and its matching code...
so you guys tell me how this car was stolen by some kid who drove it off then banged his girl in the back....
1. Did he hot wire....= I cant believe it
2. Was the valet key in the car = I can believe it...then its the owners fault, who the hell leaves his key in the car? Well NOT HERE IN NYC..man!
3. The thief didnt have a tow truck..it wasnt towed, it wasnted lifted?
so someone tell me how can this car be driven off by some kid?
