parisifal Thu, Feb-17-2005, 07:01:23 PM A few months in the box and you get an M3 huh.
It's ironic that you left before I got my car and came back right after I shipped my car home. I myself will be flying out of Ktown next week.
Budman Thu, Feb-17-2005, 07:51:34 PM 7 months was good enough for me.. I saw what I needed to see, and did what I needed to do..
herkdriver007 Thu, Feb-17-2005, 08:29:13 PM welcome back!
e36M3r Thu, Feb-17-2005, 08:55:36 PM Hey Budman, glad you are safe. I'm picking up my car next month in Munich. I'm interested in some BMW Individual pieces for the interior. ie: imola red parts: T/T Steering wheel, center console or arm rest, etc. I'd be interested in hearing what you find.
Mine will be a black interior, and I was thinking of adding the above, plus the Imola door inserts, and any other items to have a 2-tone look, but without the red in the seats.

Cruzer Fri, Feb-18-2005, 07:35:35 AM Wecome back!!!!!
///Maniak Fri, Feb-18-2005, 07:44:55 AM Feels great to be back, doesn't it? Better hurry and get through the break-in period so you can hit the Ring as soon as you can. I'm pretty sure it's opening mid-March
Sebony Fri, Feb-18-2005, 07:55:41 AM Yep, opening the 03/13....
Army Chief Fri, Feb-18-2005, 08:51:42 AM You don't need to spend 15 months there (like I did) to know that it svcks. Given a choice, I would stay just long enough to get a good downpayment, and then get the heck out of Dodge. :D
I am sorry to say that I don't think you're going to get anywhere on the BMW Individual parts though -- at least not as delivered from the factory. It is too late in the process to really re-route the car (BMW Individual cars follow a somewhat different path in the factory to completion), and this may not even be available to you, depending upon who sold you the car. For example, Pentagon Car Sales does not seem to enjoy a great track record on BMW Individual orders, whereas BMW Military Sales can usually get you what you want once you educate your sales rep.
Either way, you will most likely be dealing with the parts department of your local (German) dealership if you really want to order these parts. BMW Individual just isn't a very flexible a la carte affair. The program requires lots of lead time, lots of extra money, and lots of coordination on the part of an unusually well-informed and well-connected sales agent.
My advice? Just be happy with your car "as is" for now, and worry about the other stuff once summer gets here. We're just talking about cosmetic changes, anyway.
Welcome home, and take it easy for the first few months on the road!

Budman Fri, Feb-18-2005, 09:04:42 AM Chief, I only planned on trying to order the items through my parts guy.. I am going to see what he can do for me. I have all the part numbers and what not I need, so I just have to check with him on whether or not I can order them. I don't want a full individual car, just a few interior items is all. He has always worked with me before, so hopefully he can help me out now..but we will have to see.
Army Chief Fri, Feb-18-2005, 10:01:30 AM Budman,
Then you are definitely on the right track -- enjoy the new sled!!

That will cost you around 550 euros. That is the qoute from the local stealer.
Budman Mon, Feb-21-2005, 12:23:44 PM Well I checked today, and my parts guy told me it was possible to order the Individual item I was looking for. He quoted me today for 450 Euro for the bi-color steering wheel.. if I wanted it installed about 600.. but I will DIY. So I will probably order in the next 2 weeks or so, when I sell my mirrors from my coupe. :)
Dirtboy Mon, Feb-21-2005, 03:56:29 PM yeah, you better drive the M like Steve drove the Mini... break it in the first 2 weeks! See you at the Ring!
