I think it's weird, hopefully it's not.

To get to the point, to this day, ever since i've owned the m3 (oct 1, 2004) i thought i've been doing metal to the pedal.. but i guess not...

Today when i stomped the accelerator, i felt a "click" feeling. I was like WTF.. then i noticed that after you depress the accelerator almost 90%, there is a little "step" or a "button" feeling when you press a little more... it's as if there was a knockdown mode like in automatics... but didn't go any faster or anything..

does anyone know whats wrong with my pedal? I checked the pedal, and nothing looked wrong, it looked fine.

I have a 2003 Bmw M3 with SMG with fixed rod bearings, and have 16,500 miles. Hopefully i've provided enough information :peace:

Thanks in advance!

That is perfectly normal on smg transmissions. Its called a "kick down", what happens is when you have the transmission in automatic mode, if you push the pedal down all the way, and then push it so it clicks like that, it automatically downshifts into the next lower gear for quicker acceleration. Some automatic cars have that too btw.

Yeah, bimmers have had them for a while. My friends 95 740i had a little button at the bottom, as well as my mothers 2003 530i.

I actually thought that the click was for the car to let you know that you're already down the to metal. In my Accord I don't have this feature, so when I floor it I keep pressing the pedal through the floor thinking I'm giving it more gas, when in reality it's already as far down as it can possibly go but there's no way for me to know that.
