After driving a 645CI for the last month I can no longer drive my M3... The steering feels imprecise and slow, the suspension feels like it has massive body rolll... The new technology BMW is putting in these vehicles is absolutely AMAZING. Will the new M3/4 have the Active Steering & Active Roll Bars in it? I would love to purchase a new M3, but only if it will drive as well as the 6-series.. Otherwise i'd hate to have to drop 100-110K on the new M6..

I don't know if the M6 will cost that much but no one is really sure of the active steering and active roll bars will be available on the future M3.

Cross your fingers :peace:

Yes, I think the new M will have this type of technology as a standard. I believe a lot of the R&D costs have now been spread into the M5 and M6 so technology like this can drizzle down into the M3 at a much lower cost that it would be normally.

This definately won't be standard. Starting in model year '06 all 5,6 and new 3 series will not have active steering as standard equipment . As of now, '05 5 and 6 series have it automatically as part of the sport package and because of disgruntled enthusiasts they are making it a stand alone option for all '06 models with or without sport package. ///M cars may not even be available with this option at all.

the M5 does not have either of those available even as an option to my knowledge

After reading some lit on the E90 i seriously doubt they will put this stuff on the M3, especially the active steering. For regular driving its great. During "spirited" driving it apparently does more bad then good.

Active steering does not belong in any M car. Period.

You'd be surprised.. I think you can control the car much better with it

The m division don't think active steering suits the m character in the m6, so hard to imagine they'll think it's a goer in the next gen m3.

I have both on my 545i and it is great on that as a daily driver. Especially because it makes a bigger and heavier car feel more athletic. However, it does not belong on the M3.

Its the 12th March at my dealership when the e90's will be there and I will be going along to take a look - they told me the same models you posted will be there. I'm not going to test drive it on the day though - I would've done if there was a 330 but don't see the point in testing a 325, especially with how mad it'll be at the dealership and the roads around it on a saturday.

E90 has Active Steering and Dynamic Drive (same as E60 and E63/64).. Very nice when drifting E90 because you don't get your hands off the wheel at all. With this Dynamic Drive 330i stays in corners absolutely flat, no whip moving .. just pure drift! Amazing!!! Also this new inline 6 has brilliant power .. it is revving like crazy, nothing simillar to traditional inline 6 of old models which need more revs to pull. This 258hp engine is pulling, pulling and pulling all over like M3.. 330i actually sound and revs like M3 .. Unique engine! When I switched off the DSC totally in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear there was only smoke behind me .. I could't beleieve that I was only in civil model, not in //M one?! I tell you guys E90 ruulz! Especially 330i (attaching the 330i exhaust pipes after my driving :peace: )
