My god... My dreams came true taking that black 01 M roadster (with top down of coarse) for a test drive.

Perfect torque in every gear. Smooth shift gates and increadable handling/acceleration. The comfortable seats and actual head/leg room (even with top up).

This car has met all of my expectations of an M

I also took a S2000 for a test drive shortly afterword and the differences are evident from the first time I sat in the Honda. Much less leg room (didn't get to check head room with top up) and a much different atmospher. Honda inspired the S2K to be more race like and much more direct no bullsh*t approach were as the M roadster take a more eligant (more daily driveable) approach.

The chassis between both cars feel much the same...that all changes as your foot gains weight on the accelerator. The Honda begs for more and more revs and pulls hard toward redline (especially in VTEC). The M uses old fashion torque (and plenty of it). The M pulls hard toward redline in any gear anytime.

BOTH sound increadable when pushed hard but the Honda sounds well...like a Honda during cold start-ups. The M is what you would expect from a luxury performance machine

My goal is to pick up an M roadster/coupe...if not I have the S2000 to fall back on.

The clock is ticking

Cool, I'd be happy with either one of them. What year S2000 did you test drive?

02 with 38k miles on it (nothing for a Honda).

Both very good cars but both are also in a class of their own when it comes to comfort and driving style.

I'd also be happy owning either of them (I'd prefer the M tho  )

///M Roadster > S2000, only because of an abundance of a ceratin twisting force known as torque.

hehe...the interior makes a great differance to.

The S2k is all business...everything at your fingertips and very understandable at a glance.

The ///M is more relaxed and eligantly oriented. It's not as boring as the S2k

It's more of a preferance issue between the two cars. The two perform well when pushed hard. I'd love to see the two on the track

The M fits me like a glove, but if I can't afford insurance (or the car) I'll just get the Honda.

I actually liked the '04 S2000 I sat in at the Phoenix auto show. The interior was well engineered with many storage compartments. Your no BS statement summarizes it very well. The long hood on the S2000 reminds me of my Z. The S2000 hand down has an awesome gearbox. I'd buy a hardtop for either one if I owned one.

Thanks for your input :) Very insightful since I am just the opposite of you.

I have a S2000 and thinking about getting a M-roadster to play with...hehehe - I get bored easily!

One thing to point out on my s2000, the driver's seat is MUCH bigger than the passenger seat since it's got a weird hump that really kills the space.....

I've had my s2000 for about 6 months now and LOVE it immensely - even more fun to drive than my M3 if you can believe that. It revs like my bike and sounds great at throttle. Cheap to maintain and very good gas mileage too. You're right that on start-up it sounds like a Honda though...haha

you can't go wrong with either car since each one has strong points / negatives....good luck!

here's a pic of my s2k..enjoy!

I test drove another ///M roadster yesterday AND GOT LOST!!!! LOL

This time...it WASN'T STOCK :agree:

First hint something special was under the hood...Dinan carbon fiber intake  I don't know if it had a chip but that sucker had sick torque. I punched the throttle next to an A8 and it sounded incredible...The car just squat down, the nose rose up a few inches and we were GONE.

Highway 5-gear acceleration was even more incredible. I didn't know I COULD pass people without pulling out of 5th!

Went back to the dealer and threw some numbers around...

8.25% interest on my 720pt credit :banghead: Why? because it's a 1999.

What a shame...30k miles on the car...just MINT...I know I can walk out the dealer for $20k but I don't want to pay that kind of interest and not have a warranty either.

Unfortunately...I "can't" afford an ///M

that's one off my list

next in line- GTO, S2k, BMW 330i (with sport package)

Why not do independent finance?

A 5-6 yr old car will always have worse financing than a new one.

I dunno, I might have to take take the 8.25% :nixweiss:

Good point.. doesn't hurt to try USBank and some others though. It could also be bad timing as interest rates have gone up (not sure on the whole long-term/short-term IR though).

Hey Matt, check the pits. I might have made a decision on my future purchase...

that's B.S, I have banks that will do 5.3% on 48 months (on a 720 beacon) for a 99. They are fuking with you.

Try looking at an '02 330 - better steering feel than in the '01's.
