Hey, my father was at the dealer for his 1,200 mile service. I didn't feel like waking up ( im his son- 14) , and they tought him launch control ect. When he came back i asked him if they taught him how to do launch control, he said yes, and then he said "ughhh?". And ofcourse he totally forgot.

How do you do launch control on the M3? -Smg2. I was wondering, because you could i think just rev as high as you want and just let it rip, thanks alot. :banghead:

Hello!, I am polish as well, i have been in America for 22 years though, but i always visit my family just about every year. Its very nice to know that there are many polish people here. I had bought myself the 2005 Smg2 M3, and am VERY Happy about my choice. The only thing that i miss, is that i missed out on the compeition package, but i dont like the color that much.

I would borrow your dad's key tonight and learn to drive. That way, by the time you turn 16, you'll be an expert driver. LOL

i dont even know how to say it (kazolek?), well i use my father's account, but that first one i wrote for him because he was doing something and i was pretty bored. Well im finding out the launch control, because i want him to try it out first. When he does it and he lets me drive later on some side road, then ill put it to the test so i dont get the blame if i blow the engine!, but that wont happen anyway.

How do you do the launch control?
--Also finding it out when i get my license at 17 :-D

Come on guys, give him a chance.

Turn dsc off (light on dash comes on)
Put tranny in S6
Push shifter lever foward and hold it there.
Hold gas, rpms will level out at 1,800
Release lever and get ready to shift, because thats when you launch.
Don't wreck the car.

Basic way. Supposedly there 'burn out mode' and 'launch mode'. Thats still being debated. Push the gas slowly down until its floored. You'll have to feather the gas some to figure out how to get a good launch.

you got the LC and the Burn-out confussed.
LC is slow to the floor, while Burn-out is fast to the floor.
I thought that they dropped the Burn-out from the NA cars in early 03 during the mini make-over.
Mine doesn't seem to have it... 03.5 car.

Can you do a burnout with the launch control sequence or just by stomping on the gas?

I simply put the pedal to the floor. Only have done this twice and don't plan on wasting too much more rubber doing it.

Just what I thought, that is not the burnout mode available in pre 2003.5 cars. All of the models regardless of build year can do a burn out by just stomping on the gas.

What's the difference between burning her out via LC or by simply stomping on her?

Not much but the pre 2003.5 cars had a program in launch control that would do this, I guess they removed it to discourage its use.

My understanding is that in LC Burnout Mode the computer still monitors traction somewhat, so you get a "controlled" burnout vs an irregular one by just mashing the gas. Never tried it though....

Last time I did a burn out there wasn't anything "controlled" about it. My back wheels started hopping just trying to grab the dry pavement. Tires were warmed up for 15 minutes and there was no rain for a week; meaning dry road. No burnout on gravel either.

The DSC has to be off and with either method it will just melt the rear tires unless you have some traction then you may get some wheel hop too.
