Going down the highway. Car has 2500 miles on it, and has the top down. If I were to floor it from 60-110, would there be a significant difference if I floored it from the same speeds, but with 6000 miles on the motor and the top up?

Who would win? I am just comparing my M now from 4 months ago.

How much though? I got my ass handed to me by a z28 with minor bolt ons with 2500 miles and top down. Would it be a repeat now?

Probably. The difference in mileage and top up or down is pretty small. It's easy to mod a Z28 to make them very fast.

What speed were going when you started to race him and what gear did you shift down into prior to flooring it?

I must have been around 60 in third. I did not want to drop it to second (for obvious reasons). Brought it near redline every gear.

No biggie. Sounds like he just had a faster car than you.

Scott's right.

Z28's are pretty quick, like many other American cars they are easy modded and can be quick as hell when you do it.

Coupés are quicker than Cabriolets. Since the top adds weight you would probably have a better chance beating the Z28 in a coupe.

This is true. I have an 04 Mustang as well. Slightly modded. I wonder how that would do against the M. I need another driver...

I had a 2003 Mach 1 (much faster than a GT) that ran a 13.2@104 bone stock with 271 rwhp on the dyno.

I then installed an X-pipe, pulleys, throttle bodies, intake spacer, and chip and was making 294 rwhp/322 ft lbs torque on the same dyno.

I raced it against my buddy's bone stock 6-MT M3 Coupe...and he beat me two times out of 3 up to 130.

The Cabs are considerably slower then the Coupes however.

P.S. - When I was stock, I beat two C5 Corvettes in my car. One from a stop at the track and one from a roll on the freeway.

The word is that the cab's aren't that much slower than the coupes. My stang is putting down 234 at the wheels too.
