Hey Guys,

I've been hearing alot about the new HRE Competition Series wheels for the longest time and have not seen them on anyone's car to date. They haven't even updated there website with them. Any news on these rims? Pictures on any M3's. Is anyone here running a set yet or considering getting a set? They are suppose to be released aready. I wonder what the target weight for these rims will be. Lucent Motors... any M3 specific applications yet? I love the C21's.

i luv the c20s, but i dont like the step lip. i contacted HRE directly, at this time they have no plans to make one without the stepped lip.

This is correct b/c it is really a track wheel. Really light and the strongest setup is the lip.

I was looking into these when I sold my last HRE's. I ended up getting BBS RS-GTs instead. The price on these was way to high, especially considering I was not happy with my last set of HREs. IMO, these are nice looking wheels, but way way overpriced, as HREs generally are.

still like the looks of the 540r/840r non-steped lip (don't remember the correct terminology). the comp series wheels are still pretty heavy though aren't they?

this may actually be a good thing:
without the reverse lip configuration, i believe there will be no issues with the 'water channel' that reverse lip wheels have, which causes vibration etc in wet weather...

Yeah there pretty expensive for 18's I've been quoted around 4200 - 4500 hundred for a set with the centers shot peened. Hopefully these rims will be the best of both world. Waiting to order a set if there really as light as they say. I seen the rims and SEMA and they look sick! I personally like step lips like LMS better then reverse lips. Hopefully we get to see some M3 pics soon.

From what I heard they were only available in 18's but I guess now there going to do 19's. I also looking for the weigth on these rims. I'm hoping sub 20 like the Kinesis rims.

Wow.....I like HRE's and all..but for that price of admission for race wheels, I would be going with some magnesium Volks....

Whenever ever it rained it would develop an extremely violent shake, it was really bad. Also the I found the finish on the rims to be way to delicate and the lips had to be polished all the time or else they would get very dull. Plus they would not take a balance well. All of these problems are non existent on my BBS RS-GT.

HRE's are just too much $$ - plus nicest M3 wheels are CSL wheels anyway

WTF :nixweiss: Man i guess i will be looking at different wheels now, maybe i'll stick with BBS, their quality fit and finish are amazing, hmm CSL wheels are hot but i ight go with LM's! How about iForged Seneka's or DPE R06 Variant S's, those are good quality wheels right?

Personally, I think no wheel manufacture can touch BBS in overal quality and finish, they are still at the top of their game. In my book HRE, DPE, and Iforged are very similar in quality and build as Im sure most would agree on this forum. If you dont get the reverse lip from HRE you wont have the rain issue. My RS-GTs are a flat reverse lip, but they are designed properly so no issues in the rain.

Ive heard of that issue also witht he revers lip filling with water, now my question is what is the purpose of a reverse lip?? Also iForged, HRE and DPE i heard were all made by the same fanufacturer

Both are really good wheels, it's a win-win situation. I believe all three use the same painter/supplier for the wheels to be constructed. If you're interested in DPE wheels, let me know - I'm an authorized dealer for the wheels.

JEEZUS....should I even dare to ask how much these things are?

Not like this extra weight will make any big differene to 90% of us - me included that don't ever use the car besides for cruising so we can all put Davins on for that matter...haha

But I'm sure some of you will pay for these so post pics when u get them.....

I still haven't received mine as I heard HRE still has some issues on their competition wheels. I had been waiting for them since last November and getting real impatient.

Do yourself a favour and get a set of BBS rims. You are a very patient person if you have been waiting this long for a set of rims.

What size did you get? 19 x 9, 19 x 10? or 19 x 8.5?

I was gonna do 19x9.5 and 19x10.5 but settled on 9s and 10s with my own offsets.

I did my research a lot on these HRE Competition series wheels.
I was gonna buy them for my 325i before I decided to get a M3.

Prices for these wheels are more expensive than the 440 series and cheaper than the 540 series.

A friend of mine asked a HRE rep at SEMA for me on the weight of these wheels.
19x9" weighs 21 lbs.
So use your imagination from there regarding other width sizes.
