very nice race ...but u should do another one off a roll...cuz he doesnt look like he can really launch the car...cuz if he could he should have jumped bout a car car and a half on the launch then u should have passed him.

Nice vid. Looks like the STi can hang with the M3 at lower speeds.

When the Sti first came out, late 2003, some salesman gave me a call I tried negotiating low 30's... he basically told me to =F off and then I told him I didn't really give a sh!t b/c I had a M3 on order anyway. He rebuttled and said the STi would smoke the M3. Since then, the STi and Evo are my favorite kills. I haven't lost to either. Nice Kill.

nice kill. i think with a better driver the sti could have kept up a bit better, they are good off the launch

Nice... 333 vs 265 are enough to cover the AWD advantage I guess...

Hmm, I wonder who would have won at say 4,500 feet above sea level? I suspect the turbo would be losing much less power at altitude. Therefore the STI probably would have won. Anyone know for sure? Having a normally aspirated car at altitude sucks, IMO.

It's 333 versus 300 hear in America (and 262 tq versus 300 tq)

Great video... I thought the sti would have a much better launch, atleast 1/2 a car length jump on the M3 with the AWD.

He should have. When I race Evos and Stis at the track they usually jump 1-2 cars out of the hole and then by third I am reeling them in quickly.

Nah...an M3 will pretty much always kill and Evo or STi with equal drivers. Especially from a roll. Those cars lose too much of their power at speed from their AWD drivetain.

Nice kill, I thought it would've been closer than it was.

Stock for Stock the M3 will win at any speeds is correct(on a roll) but.....this is the worst launch ive seen on a sti yet it bogged...on the launch it should have jumped a car or 2 and the m3 would have passed it at around end of 3rd begging of 4th...those cars are rated at 13.1 guys there not slow.

I feel your pain, being at 4,500ft myself... It's a real PITA!!!

Someday, I've gotta go out to Calif. or something and see what that extra 13%-15% of HP I'm missing out on, feels like!

Isn't the STI 300hp? It may be 265hp at wheels, but then again, by that standard I doubt the M3 is making its advertised 333hp at crank @ the wheels.

Stock for stock, M3 will be faster on a roll. But don't forget that an STI, as a turbo car, can become very fast for very little money.

http://www.vishnutuning.com/impreza_sti_stage1_v370.htm

$1600 adds a retuned ECU and full exhaust. STI will get about 60 to 70 more HP at the crank. At that point, I doubt the M3 will be faster on rolls, but I could be wrong. What does M3 trap in 1/4? Apparently Vishnu says STI will trap at 110mph.

I'd say as an overall package, the M3 is hard to beat. But I live in the Northeast and recently we got pounded by snow. I think due to these circumstances, I would get an STI before M3 because it is much more practical when you factor in AWD and the snow that we get.

You guys make it seem as if the STI is slow. By no means... I think this video is not a good indication of its performance... the STI driver sucked!!!

I am always careful with Turbo cars... because they are pandora boxes... after the lag comes the surprise...

Your a Rx7 man?? Do you know a buddy of mine? John D from Cartrix in Newark? He ran high 10s with the stock twins and he finally switched to a large single and the car is driven daily, rain , snow, sleet, whatever!! I was going top buy one of those, but do not have the time to mod.

I by anymeans really didn't kill the STI. A win is a win however. The stis are fast for what they cost but by no means on the level of the M3. If you ask most sti drivers what they would rather drive, their answer would be overwhelming for the.................
