I had one of those e-bay moments that you look back on and question your judgement :bs:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7948876077

So I'm the proud over of these Taiwan-import CCFL angel eyes. Anyone tried these out? The pics look good, but that doesn't mean much.

Dr. Love, you can order a set of CCFL kits for $100 shipped from www.leistung.tk If you'd like any testimonials regarding their products, let me know.

So what's the difference between these $100 kits and the $300 Wheelpower ones?

To be honest, I'm really not too sure. I know many people on e46fanatics.com are very pleased with the Leistung product. Let me get you some links.

i've seen the $100 kits that Fucy626 was selling in person and they looked pretty good. don't really see a point in getting the $300 versions...they're essentially the same thing. branded vs. non-branded

There is a variety of people selling CCFL Angel Eyes and in various forms.

THe big daddy baller of kits is the $290-300 Wheelpower Phosphyre Halos kit that JLevi and Umnitza sell. THis kit comes with 2 ballast, 4 8000k rings, the Enhanced Version 2 shell, full wiring harness with tear resistant converings, full instructions, full warranty. THese kits are 100% ready to install, NO soldering of any sort needs to be done, no harnesses need to be built

JLevi and Umnitza started selling a cut down kit to compete with a lot of the other people who started to sell inexpensive CCFL kits, like Fucy, Leistuning, Bavarian Motorworks, etc.

The $65-100 cut down kits are typically the 4 rings, an outter enhanced ring (the plastic piece with the notches) and 2 ballasts. The wiring harness is typically NOT included and you need to construct one yourself with a relay. I don't know what the warranty is.

The big difference in cost comes from the quality of the actual rings. There have been some posts of how some of the cheaper rings aren't as bright and offer as much light output, but take those for what they are worth. In addition, the fact that you have to build your own wiring harness instead of ket one prebuilt effects the price of these kits.

Ultimately it's down to a "how complete" is the kit. Do you have to build some stuff, or is it pretty much plug and play, and the quality of the components. There are lots of happy people with $65-$100 kits, and lots of people happy they spent $300.

lol just noticed this in the auction description:

"Other competitions use cheap clear acrylic ring sleeves which is not durable and looks ghetto."

:rofl2:

The $100 CCFL kit I got from Umnitza did come with a wiring harness, and did not come with enhanced shells.

The ballasts needed some work to plug into the wiring harness, but overall it was a good deal. Not 100% plug and play, but the harness alone saved much of the effort.

the leistung kit is not cheap whatsoever. They come with a wiring harness and relay s already attached. The kit is so straight forward and easy. I have the phopho kit, which i paid 400+ cause i broke the rings like 3 times. And my friend ken has the leistung kit. Not only are they strong, but theres really not that much difference in the kit. You can see that here.

Don't forget that their kits - Leistung kits are enhanced and no plug and play is required.

keep inmind that when ccfls go out, u can replace the ring very cheap and easy. Wheelpowers are virtually the same as ccfl besides being a lil more bluer

The typical batch of people will tell you (due to various vendettas or misinformation that they like to propagate) that it's "all the same" but it's not.

HDclown atually put it correctly.

We have started offering an exact duplicate of the generics that are sold by our competition for $25 LESS.

http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?p=2329066#post2329066

It doesn't have the same warranty, brightness, quality of materials, but it does the job:)

I was also really interested on getting those angel eyes on ebay! The site makes it sound really convincing!! Are the Umnitza, Jlevi, and Leustung halos enhanced? They look thinner than the ebay one. I believe that ebay ones also come with a wiring harness? everything needed for installation? More info would be great!

The products they sell is the same as the one on ebay, but with the wiring harness set. Also, most of the Ebay products say you need to connect the wires to the parking lights for power - but that isn't necessary.

I'd suggest you talk to either Ken or Tyler at www.leistungmotorwerkes.com They'll definetly be able to help you out & also just as illG35 stated, their product looks great.

The simple answer is the generic product is available from us now at $75, it looks the same and acts the same as all the other replica products out there.

The Daddy of the products out there for Angel eyes remains the WP Enhanced for $299 and it's a lifetime warranty product. Meaning, anything goes wrong, you get a new part:)
