As far as I recall, there has been no change between the 2003 and 2004+ models in terms of the seats - be it material, shape or colour.

nope since the M3 came out - the seats have been the same - the cab seats do differ from the coupe seats though

 Yes in fact from late 04 seat are slightly different. The difference is on the lower part of the seat, the side bolsters are flat on the side rather than slightly curved, that's all. hardely noticeable.

Yes there is. I have compared mine with an 05 in the dealers lot.
There is also a difference in speaker cover in the back.

I know there is a difference. But I was trying to see whatever knows. The new ones to me seem a little softer, the black leather is a shade different color and also the seats on a 03 are TIGHTER the new ones the seat wraps or leather whatever you wanna call it aren't as tight. Does anyone know if you can replace an 03 seat and have it match or will you be stuck with the new style>? New seats are approx $4,000!

O Yeah 1 more thing, the seats even FEEL different. (Material)

So the question is can I get a 2003 seat? Part numbers on the new 04 / 05 seats match the part numbers with my seat (2003) so that doesn't make sense! I checked! What do I do if I want to replace a seat?

What are power side bolsters? If you mean the power-adjustable lumbar support, it has been an option at least since 2003. (That's as far as I know, it may have been available in 2002, too.)

The "Harman Kardon" logos on the rear speakers have been added mid-2004 (i.e. with the 2004.5 production).

If you are referring to the width adjust seat option, my 02 has it as well.

Do you know how I go about getting that style seat? Or is it impossible and I will only get new style? Personally I like the old style WAY WAY WAY BETTER! If anyone knows please let me know. You would think ordering the same seat with the same part number would work but it didn't I got a seat that is different using the same part number so what can I do?

Thanks, Will. I have a 2004 model (built in November 2003) so mine should be a new style right? I wonder how functionally different they are. I have sat in a 2001 model, but it's a long long time ago...

It should be....what really made me notice the difference was that it seems that my leather was a bit shinier than the 04. I thought it was just a age thing, but it seemed like the material texture was a bit different too. I also notice it in the SMG shift boot and the ebrake boot.
