Okay, my M is now a month old and I hate the HK system but I'm not up for a total system overhaul. I have nav which I like (I wish it were touch screen) and so I don't want to change the head unit. What I really want is more bass. I saw what Bav soundwerks is offering but it looks like it takes up too much trunk space. So, my question is (I did a search and found nothing)...can I swap out the 6x9s in the HK "subwoofer" for better speakers in the HK system? I heard the HK uses a wierd resistance level or something so that other speakers may not work so well. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks all.

Not too bad, I guess if it's the only option I'll have to look into it. Thanks

I have a pair of Kicker Free Air 6x9 subs that will fit the HK enclosure, I am going to be getting rid of them. The holes in the deck have to be enlarged a bit for the magnets to fit. The depth is more as well as the magnet size. A JL 250/1 would be fine for them, the subs are 125 watts rms each. The JL amp can be driven directly from the speaker outputs on the HK sub amp. I have not experimented with the sub amp inputs. No crossover is needed as the signal is already sub only. Bass can be improved by using Dynamat or Accumat material on the underside of the whole deck excluding the sub and rear speaker holes. This seals all the small holes in the deck and provides a better seal, preventing the rear sound wave from cancelling out the front. The bass is much better with these I am just not a fan IB subwoofers. Should be getting my new sub box from Wicked CAS with a 10W7 soon. It is a sealed box that fits above the battery tray and will be powered by a JL 500/1. Hope this helps and let me know if you are interested.
