Are the coupes lighter than the roadsters?

weight is very similar...m coupe is listed at 3131 lbs. the roadster (3081lbs) is supposed to be abit lighter but few m coupes were weighed at the track and the weights were @ 30-40lbs lighter than the spec. m coupe feels much more solid than the roadster too. btw, what happened to the supra?

The Supra is sold. I loved the car, but it was an automatic. It was very fast anyway ... :)
I shipped it to FL 2 days ago.

Also, the M coupe that I am buying does't have a sunroof, am I going to miss it much?

sweet, even better. i wish i didn't have one...........kinda useless when they don't go back(only tilt). i didn't have a choice so i stuck a sunshade on it. you won't miss it. one caution, this is not a good car for bad weather. be careful.

Congratulations! I just picked up a 2000 ///M Coupe with 13,000 miles 2 weeks ago. All I can say is OMG where were you all my life!! After 3 modded 'stangs and a modded Jetta 1.8T I finally found the car I was trying to build all along!! Let us all know how you like it so far Alex M!!

You couldn't be any more right about that! You DO have to drive one to understand... Getting my ///M all started with me deciding to get out of my mod'd Jetta 1.8T and into a 330 Coupe.. Dropped by Fields BMW here in Chicago to check out a cert used one... they didn't have one in stock but told me to take a 2002 Z3 3.0i coupe out for a spin to get an idea of what the 3.0 engine is like.... I was instantly hooked when I hit my first corner:eek: My dub sure couldn't corner like this!! :eek:

I was obsessed with it from that point on and... got lucky and found a 00 ///M Coupe nearly 5 months after driving the 3.0i.

The 3.0i is still one sweet ride but it ain't no ///M.

Gotta say though it has taken 3 weeks and 1000 miles to finally stop waiting for the turbo to kick in but only one minute to realize it doesn't need one in the first place. :D

Seriously though, did anyone else have a turbo charger before getting your ///M?

I miss that crazy rush of power on the freeway, but I am more pleased with the M coupe overall.

I agree with you there, I am happier by far with the M just as it is.. no need to mod anything that I can see!

But if boost is what we need/want then maybe one or both of us will get the Dinan supercharger upgrade installed.. it's about $6K.

Also, with the relatively high compression ratio of the ///M engine, wouldn't forced induction be dangerous? Wouldn't we need also to throw in a different set of pistons or a different head?

Holy flurging snit! :eek: That mod costs in excess of $40,000!! If I'd had that much to spend on a sportscar in the 1st place, I would have just gotten a higher end model!

'99 and '00 have 240hp
01 and 02 have 315. There were only 690 cars sold with the new engine, so those cars are priced high.

But don't let the HP figures obsess you.
M coupe's 240hp is not new accord's 240hp. :)
The 99-00's have a nice flat torque curve. You can really feel it with your butt dyno. :)
